Well another season has come to an end. The Commissioner's office would like to congratulate the Young Gunz on their back tp back SWFFL Championships. We also wish to congratulate all the other Money Teams. The championship was decided by 30 points as all 4 Money teams finished at 11-6. Some might say it was even closer, as a 0.1 point loss caused by a 0.3 Tuesday morning point stat correction would have been the difference between the Black & Blue Attack winning the championship or finishing out of the Money. I knew that small stat correction would be huge in the end, but I did not realize it would be that huge. At any rate, I hope everyone had a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year. The League Party is set for Sunday February 9th at 6:00 at Maggie O'Neils. I hope to see everyone there.

Don't forget to keep an eye on the old web site (http://swffl.50megs.com). It has updated archives and historical records. I will also add some web-exclusive materials there, like the complete 2013 Draft analysis, as I develop them. Anybody with ideas, send them to me and I will see what I can do.

OK, this is the part where I look back at the draft analysis I do at the beginning of most years. This year it picked 3 of the 4 Money teams making 35 of 72 overall. Still below 50%, but unless someone has a better idea, I'll probably continue the same old analysis. At least it predicted a Money finish for the eventual Champ and the one team it picked to be in the money that wasn't was the highest scoring team.

Spock was 4 of 5 making him 40 of 70 (57%) on the year and he wins the annual competition. Norm was 3 of 5 making him 33 of 70 (47%) on the year. I actually did get picks form Norm for a few weeks. Maybe we will do a little better next year.

Since we have some extra room in the last week, I will be doling out my season-ending awards for the year. The 2013 Fantasy MVP award goes to Peyton Manning (This one wasn't even close). The BRONCOS are the 2013 Fantasy NFL Team of the Year award by grabbing a top 4 spot in all of the position rankings except Special Teams. The 2013 Surprise of the Year is Josh Gordon who wound up as a top 4 WR despite a 2 game suspension and he just beat out Nick Foles (who wasn't even a starter in Week 1). I have to give LeSean McCoy the 2013 Comeback Player of the Year mainly because I made him bust of the year last year. There were many candidates for 2013 Bust of the Year (most due to injury), but I think Trent Richardson earned the title, even after a trade that should have helped him; he failed to live up to expectations. The 2013 Worst Fantasy NFL Team goes to the RAIDERs. Sorry Toast but there was nary a fantasy stud on that roster.

The Dream Team put up monster points against the Fightin' Irish as they completed the season sweep and grabbed the all important Week 17 helmet and 2nd place. Unfortunately for the Dreamers they came up 30 points or so shy of their 5th Title. The Dream Team was led by Manning, Nelson and Hilton in the win. The Irish had no 20 pt. starter and had little help on the bench.

The Bishops of Battle completed the season sweep of the Money Takers and held on tight to that final Money spot. The Bishops were led by Orton, Forte and Patterson (2 late season pickups). Only Kaepernick managed to clear 20 points for the Money Takers as they barely finished out of the basement.

The Black & Blue completed the season sweep of the Jelly Beans. Despite breaking the SWFFL scoring record, the Attack came up shy of a Money spot and even got edged out of the Week 17 consolation money. Sounds like somebody really stepped on the Fantasy Gods toes. The Attack was led by Thomas in the victory. CJ2k and Boldin led the Beans in the loss.

The Body Shop completed the season sweep of the Roxborough Wranglers and managed to salvage something from the season as they scored the Week 17 second place prize. Brees and Witten led the Shop. The Shop finished with 2 top 4 QBs, but could not overcome key injuries especially at the WR position. The Wranglers were led by Newton and White as they started to put up some points at the end of the season.

The "Game of the Week" honors go to the contest between the Young Gunz and Good Fellas. The Fellas need to win to stay in the Money. The Gunz needed to keep some part of their 70 point lead over the Dream Team to wrap up their 2nd Title in as many years. Both teams accomplished their Missions. The Fellas avenged their early season loss without a 20 point starter (had several that were close). The Gunz were led by Foles and Bryant, who although they failed to deliver a "W", they did deliver the trophy back to the Gunz HQ, as things were not looking real good for the Gunz going into Sunday nights game.
