![]() Week 16 finds many teams more distracted with blinking holiday lights and egg nog then what is going on in the SWFFL. While that is certainly understandable, there is some real excitement going on in the league going in to week 17. The Young Gunz can probably coast to back to back titles (unless the Dream Team can put up a lot of points and the Gunz slip again this week). There are still 5 teams fighting for the rest of the Money Spots, although the Beans are really hindered by their point total. Finally, I'd like to take this opportunity to wish the entire SWFFL and their families a very Merry Christmas. Don't forget to keep an eye on the old web site (http://swffl.50megs.com). It has updated archives and historical records. I will also add some web-exclusive materials there, like the complete 2013 Draft analysis, as I develop them. Anybody with ideas, send them to me and I will see what I can do. Key Matchups to watch this Week The Bishops of Battle will try to keep that Money spot by completing the season sweep of the Money Takers. The Black & Blue would like sweep the Jelly beans and avoid being that team that score the most points in the season but finishes out of the money. The Young Gunz would like to sweep the Good Fellas and keep that trophy in the same spot on the mantle at Gunz HQ. The Dream Team's very faint Championship hopes would have to include a season sweep of the Fightin' Irish. In a battle mostly for pride, the Body Shop will try to complete the season sweep of the Roxborough Wranglers. Norm was 5 of 5 last week making him 30 of 65 (46%) on the year. He regains top billing. Spock was 2 of 5 last week making him 36 of 65 (55%) on the year. His locks appear below: BI -12 MT (250) DT -17 FI (257)BB -12 JB (262) BS -10 RW (248) YG -6 GF (270) There was 1 game that was over on Sunday night. Another was more or less over. The other 3 had some Monday Night Madness. The Money Takers avenged their early season loss to the Body Shop with Kaepernick and Crabtree still coming on Monday night. The Takers were led by Kaepernick and the EAGLES they notched their 2nd W in a row. Dalton, Matthews and Lacy put up nice numbers for thee Shop in the loss. The Shop had some bullets on the bench, but not enough that it would have made a difference. |
The Dream Team and a 45.2 point lead proved to be too much for the Bishops of Battle and the 49ERS on Monday night. The Dream Team was led by Manning and Murray as they avenged their early season loss and kept their faint title hopes alive. The Bishops failed to field a 20 point starter and they had a winning lineup on the bench. If they want to keep that Money Spot, the Bishops will have to do a better job of putting players in the right positions . . . (wow I just had a an Andy flashback). In a family affair, the Good Fellas completed the season sweep of the Jelly Beans and climbed above the Money Line as Davis and a 30.2 point lead were too much for Boldin on Monday night. The Fellas were led by Shady and Decker in the win. The Beans had 20 point starters and had no help on the bench. In upset of the week #1, the Roxborough Wranglers avenged their early season loss to the Black & Blue Attack as Roddy White overcame a 20.2 point lead on Monday night. The Wranglers were led by Garcon (that name rings a bell) and White as they also captured their first helmet of the year. In the loss which ended the Attack's Championship hopes, the Attack was led by Green and Thomas. The Attack's best lineup would have prevailed, but that would have required a benching of AP. The "Game of the Week" honors go to the contest between the Fightin' Irish and the Young Gunz. This was also an upset as the Irish and Gore overcame an 8 point lead on Monday night. The win by the Wranglers over the league leading Gunz was due in large part by Big Ben. Even another decent performance by Charles could not give the Gunz the "W" and an early title clinch. A Foles or Gonzo start would have delivered that early Xmas present for the Gunz. It looks like they will have to wait for a little post-Xmas present. CHATTERBOX:(Get Quotes in by Monday Night)
