![]() Well we are coming down the stretch and the Young Gunz look to have back to back championships in the bag. But before you start ordering the Champagne Gunz, do take care as many a dream has been shattered as the finish line approached. That being said there are still 6 teams vying for the four Money spots. Not bad with only 2 weeks to go. The Championship battle could be closer if not for the scoring update heard round the league, more on that later. Don't forget to keep an eye on the old web site (http://swffl.50megs.com). It has updated archives and historical records. I will also add some web-exclusive materials there, like the complete 2013 Draft analysis, as I develop them. Anybody with ideas, send them to me and I will see what I can do. Key Matchups to watch this Week The Bishops of Battle will try to keep their Title hopes alive by completing the season sweep of a suddenly faltering Dream Team. In a battle of pride, the Body Shop will try to complete the season sweep of the Money Takers. In a do or die family battle, the Good Fellas will try to complete the season sweep of the Jelly Beans (the loser here will probably not make the Money). In a battle between both ends of the standings, the Young Gunz will try to secure their second Title in as many years by completing the season sweep of the Fightin' Irish. The Black & Blue Attack (recovering from some Tuesday morning sickness) will try to keep their title hopes alive by sweeping the Roxborough Wranglers. Spock was 3 of 5 last week making him 34 of 60 (57%) on the year. He retains top billing. Norm was 1 of 5 last week making him 25 of 60 (42%) on the year. His lines (my estimates) appear below: DT -9 BI (270) FI -1 YG (261)MT -2 BS (258) RW -2 BB (262) GF -1 JB (263) There were 3 games over on Sunday night (at least it looked that way). The other 2 were pretty much over. The only Monday Night Madness to be found was in the final scoring updates done overnight. The Young Gunz completed the seasons sweep of the Bishops of Battle in there quest for back to back titles. The Gunz, Stafford, Pitta and a 30.4 point lead proved to be too much for the Bishops and Megatron. Is it just me or did Megatron really look out of it last night. The Gunz were led by Marshall and perhaps a record setting performance (non-QB) by Charles. The Bishops were led by Romo and Stacy in the loss. |
The Body Shop had their vengeance from a Week 6 loss to the Fightin' Irish with Bell in their back pocket on Monday night. The Shop was led by Brees and Wright in the win, which was probably matter of too little too late, The Irish failed to field a 20 point scorer in the loss. Interestingly the Irish best lineup would have moved them out of the basement. The Jelly Beans completed the season sweep of the Dream Team and really put the k'bosh on the Dream Team title hopes as Tucker was unable to overcome a 49.5 point lead on Monday night (although he did make a valiant effort). The Beans were led by D-Jax and the BEAR double-bubble as they kept their Money hopes alive and notched their 7th W in a row (that final run for the money may work out). Manning, Murray and Tucker led the Dream Team who have not lost 2 in a row and 4 out of 6. There was plenty of help on the bench that may have evened those numbers out a bit. The Good Fellas had the seasons weep of the Roxborough Wranglers in the bag with Torrey Smith to go on Monday night. The Fellas were led by Lynch, Edelman, Davis, Bailey and the CHIEFS as they pulled in to a tie for 3rd. The Wranglers had nice performances by Netwon, Garcon and the SEAHAWKS in the loss. The "Game of the Week" honors go to the contest between the Black & Blue Attack and the Money Takers. Neither had a player going on Monday night and the Attack went to bed on Monday night assuming they had eked out a 0.2 point win and over the Takers. The final stats rolled in on Tuesday and instead a 0.2 point loss the Takers had a 0.1 point win and a season sweep of a former partner. I am not sure what stat was changed, but it caused major ripples in the battle for the trophy. The Takers were led by Kaepernick and Wallace in the win. Neither of those last minute transactions paid off, but a W is a W. The Attack was led by Luck but would have been better off if they were led by Fitzpatrick.
