![]() Week 7 finds the standings still looking very interesting. We have a Few teams at 5-2 and a few at 2-5. The rest are split between 4-3 and 3-4. It looks like an inverted Normal Curve (sorry the statistician in me coming out). OK, enough of that nerdiness - on to the nerdiness we all love. We had a trade!!! Mews flash, there was an actual trade in the SWFFL. Not as rare as the merging of a Tropical Storm and Nor'easter (see next week's weather reports), but still a fairly rare event (at least I think so). Notes are a little late because I had to delay my "Tuesday off" thing for one week. Don't forget to keep an eye on the old web site (http://swffl.50megs.com). It has updated archives and historical records. I will also add some web-exclusive materials there, like the complete 2012 Draft analysis, as I develop them. Anybody with ideas, send them to me and I will see what I can do. Key Matchups to watch this Week The Bishops of Battle will try to get back to those "Helmet" winning days against the M. Takers who lead the league in points. The Good Fellas will try to get back on the winning track against the Black & Blue Attack. In a battle of bothers, the Fightin' Irish take on the Roxborough Wranglers. In another family affair, the Jelly Beans meet the Dream Team. Ina a battle of the top 2 teams, the Young Gunz duke it out wsith the Body Shop Norm was 2 of 5 making him 11/25 (44%) on the year. Norm's Lines (actually my estimates) appear above. Spock was 1 of 5 last week making him 13/25 (52%) for the year. Spock's Locks appear below: MT -13 BI (263) JB -12 DT (256)GF -4 BB (250) YG -11 GF (251) FI -15 FI (243) Two games were over on Sunday. One was more or less over. The other 2 definitely had some Monday night Madness. In a battle of Elite teams, the Body Shop narrowly edged the M. Takers. The Shop was led by Foster, Jackson and Nelson. The 0 by Vernon Davis may have something to do with the trade this week. The Takers were led by RG3 and Cruz and also had a TE throw up the goose egg. With an 8.2 loss there were options on the bench that would have allowed the Takers to keep pace with the lead pack, but perhaps the easiest move would have been starting the VIKES over the PACK (got to hurt a VIKINGS fan). The Fightin' Irish won the game on Sunday against the Black & Blue Attack and still had Megatron in their back pocket on Monday. Fortunately for the Irish they did not need any points on Monday because the BEARS did a number on Megatron. The Irish led by Schaub, Gronkowski and the PATRIOTS as they notched their 2nd Helmet. The Attack was led by Manning and Moore in the loss and had some more points on the bench, but not enough to matter. |
The Young Gunz, Hanson and a 44.2 point lead proved to be too much for the Good Fellas and he BEARS. In this battle of youngsters (who both were Elite teams going in), the Gunz were led by Brees, Martin and V-Jax as they climbed back into first place. The Fellas were led by Peterson in the loss and could have switched positions with the Gunz with a Cobb and Miller start. They didn't and now they are looking up at the Elite Line. The Dream Team, Stafford and Pettigrew overcame the Roxborough Wranglers and a 10.2 point lead. It took more than a half for the LION Double Bubble to put up the necessary points and this would gave been Game of the week, but I don't want to abuse the Commissioner's privilege and besides there was another decent candidate. The Dream team was led by Chris Johnson (welcome back CJ2K). Brady and the TEXANS led the Wranglers in the loss and had no real help on the bench. The "Game of the Week" honors go to the contest between the Jelly Beans and the Bishops of Battle. The Beans, Cutler, Forte and Marshall overcame a 35.4 point lead by the Bishops on Monday night. I know there is a QB and a couple of other high picks involved here, but I have to admit I would have been worried on Monday night down by 35 points (at least until that first Marshall TD anyway). The Beans were led by Gore, Colston and Marshall as they ended the Bishop "Helmet" string and kept pace with the leaders of the pack. The Bishops were led Rodgers in the loss. Interestingly, the Bishops only 2 wins were "Helmet" weeks. The Bishops could have continued their winning streak to 3 games with a Bailey start over Walsh. There are some weird rumors being leaked around the SWFFL offices about the Bishops. Of course it could just be a certain SWFFL owner with an anti- Bishops agenda :-) CHATTERBOX:(Get Quotes in by Monday Night)
