![]() Week 5 still finds the youngsters dominating the standings and mostly everybody else has at least one win and at least one loss. The waiver wire is on fire again, thanks in large part to the BYE weeks. Well my big project at work is over and hopefully things will return to normal, and that should mean more timely notes. Well, that is the plan anyway. Don't forget to keep an eye on the old web site (http://swffl.50megs.com). It has updated archives and historical records. I will also add some web-exclusive materials there, like the complete 2012 Draft analysis, as I develop them. Anybody with ideas, send them to me and I will see what I can do. Key Matchups to watch this Week The Bishops of Battle will try to turn their "W" in Week 5 into a mini-streak against the Wranglers as both teams attempt to climb back within reach of the Money Lines. The Dream Team will try to climb to .500 and knock their current opponents the Body Shop back to .500 in the process. In a battle of Money teams, the Money Takers will take on the Good Fellas. In a battle of teams just outside of the Money, the Jelly Beans and the Black & Blue Attack will meet in week 6. The Young Gunz meet the Fightin' Irish in a contest between the first and last place teams. Spock was 3 of 5 last week making him 8/15 (53%) for the year. Spock's Locks appear above. Norm was 1 for 5 last week making him 5/15 (33%) on the year. Norm's Lines (actually my estimates) appear below: BI -3 RW (241) BB -2 JB (260)DT -9 BS (291) FI -1 YG (255) MT -1 GF (254) Three games were over; 2 others were more or less over and none really had any Monday Night Madness. The Bishops of Battle finally notched there first SWFFL win. I am sad to say the Dream Team is their first victim. The Bishops were led by Rodgers, Bradshaw, Green, Thomas and Welker as they notched their first helmet as well. Only Wayne managed to put up 20 points for the Dream team. The Dream Team really did not have any help as their whole roster did not put up enough points to win this week. Congratulations on your first win Bishops. |
The Young Gunz continued their early season success by beating the Black & Blue Attack. The Gunz were led by Brees, Matthews and Gonzo as they climbed to the top of the standings. The Attack was led by the FALCON double bubble in the loss. The Attack did have some better options on the bench but nothing that would have changed the outcome. The Body Shop, Foster and an 18.5 point lead proved to be too much for the Roxborough Wranglers and the TEXANS. The Shop was led by a decent running attack and a little Luck. Pardon that already over-used pun, but I have a feeling I may be abusing that pun again. The Shop's cheap QB de jour, strategy has them just above the Money line. The Wranglers failed to field a 20 point scorer and their best lineup would not have made triple digits. The Money Takers and a 47.5 point lead were way too much for the Fightin' Irish, Andre Johnson and Daniels. The Takers were led by Richardson, Cruz and Harvin as they climbed to within a game of first place. That impressive point total may come in handy as well. The Irish were led by Manning and Daniels. They also had some options on the bench, but not nearly enough to make a difference. The "Game of the Week" honors go to the contest between the Jelly Beans and the Good Fellas. Ok so this game does not have the Monday night madness I like for this selection, but it did involve the only undefeated team (and honestly there weren't a whole lot of other options). The Beans handed the Fellas their first loss and knocked tem out of the top spot in the standings. How could you "Uncle Ron"? The Beans were led by Rivers, Colston and Marshall. Only the BEARS were able to muster 20 points for the Fellas. Even the Fellas best lineup would have still heft left them with their first "L" of the season. CHATTERBOX:(Get Quotes in by Monday Night)
