![]() Well here we go again. Our 24th season is under way. I hope everyone enjoyed the draft. I'd like to once again thank Ron and family for hosting the draft (especially with the whole outside-inside thing). I'd also like to wish all teams good luck. Well, only enough luck to finish in 2nd place to the Dream Team. By the way, the old web site (http://swffl.50megs.com) has updated archives and historical records. I will also add some web-exclusive materials there like the complete 2012 Draft analysis as I develop them. Anybody with ideas, send them to me and I will see what I can do. Key Matchups to watch this Week The Good Fellas take on the newly re-minted Bishops of Battle. Hey bishops this ain't no "Freddy Flinstone League" (actually The Freddy league was way ahead of the curve). The Body Shop and their "off the wall" drafted team take on the Figtin' Irish in a game matching an undefeated and winless team. The Black & Blue Attack take on the Roxborough Wranglers in a battle of teams searching for the first "W". If the Attack isn't panicking, they sure hit the waiver wire early and often. The Dream Takers take on the Money Takers in battle between the lowest scoring week 1 winner vs. the lowest scoring week 1 loser. Both teams need to see those point totals increase. In the only battle between undefeated teams, the normally fast starting Young Gunz take on the Jelly Beans who seem to have picked up where they left off last year. Spock beat Norm last year. Look for them to renew their annual battle of wits next week. Spock's lines appear above, but they will not count in the 2011 Oddsmaker battle. It would be nice to actually have Norm do his lines again. I will try to bring him back into the fold. I did that analysis based on last year's points, It is 32 out of the 68 in picking Elite Teams. As always, this analysis is based on last year's performance in points per game. If you are depending on a rookie or a comeback player then ignore these results. If you aren't necessarily relying on either of these type players and you're on the bottom of the list, you might want to consider hitting the transaction wire hard. See the old website for details on what players made up your Best Lineup based on 2011 points.
Every game but one had at least a little Monday Night Madness!! I guess that is what happens when they have 2 Monday night games. |
The Young Gunz defeated the M. Takers with the law firm still in their back pocket on Monday night. The Young Gunz (besides always seeming to get the 10th pick) have only lost once in Week 1 and generally have a pretty great record in the first 3 games. They just don't always finish strong. The Gunz were led by Brees and Graham. The Takers were led by Maclan in the loss. A Spiller start was the easiest of several roads to victory for the Takers. BTW Bubba, I stand corrected on the Rudolph start. The Bishops of Battle and Heyward-Bay were not enough to overtake the Body Shop, Gates and a 26.9 point lead. Welcome back Alex. The Shop was led by Smith, Foster, Ridlay and Akers (so how many teams will take a PK before their QB next year). The Bishops were led by Rodgers and Thomas. The Good Fellas, T. Smith, Meachem and a 4.6 point lead were too much for the Fightin' Irish and SeaBass. The Fellas were led by Vick (no penalty for INTs). The Irish were led by Andre Johnson in the loss. The Defending Champion Jelly Beans, Rivers, McFadden and Rivers easily overcame an 8 pt. lead by the Roxborough Wranglers on Monday Night. The Beans were led by Forte, Gore and Marshall as they kicked off the season with the first helmet (they did the same thing last year on the way to a 15-2 record). The Wranglers failed had no 20 point scorer and no real help on the bench either. The "Game of the Week" honors go to the contest between the Dream Team and the Black & Blue Attack. The Dream Team and 24.9 pt. lead were just barely enough to hold off the Attack and Ray Rice. Fortunately, the Bengals were inept enough to keep Rice off the field for most of the 4th quarter. The Dream Team was led by Wayne. The Attack was led by Rice and Julio Jones. The Attack had several options on the bench that would have given them the "W". CHATTERBOX:(Get Quotes in by Monday Night)
