Well we've reached the end of our 23rd season. It took us 23 years to have a team only lose 2 games. I think that is sort of amazing. With BYES and the impact of injuries, we'll probably never see an undefeated team, but I think it says something about the competitiveness of the league that we've only had one 15 win team in 23 years. Congratulations to the other Elite Teams a well. Heard an interesting idea for a new consolation prize (make sure it goes to a non-Elite team). I will send out an e-mail about the settle up party. We are probably looking at February 19 - because of Valentines Day, but will have to check with Norm. Hope to see you all there and I wish you all a belated Happy New Year.

Don't forget to keep an eye on the old web site (http://swffl.50megs.com). It has updated archives and historical records. I will also add some web-exclusive materials there, like the complete 2011 Draft analysis, as I develop them. Anybody with ideas, send them to me and I will see what I can do.

OK, this is the part where I look back at the draft analysis I do at the beginning of most years. This year it picked 3 of the 4 Elite teams making 32 of 68 overall. Still below 50%, but unless someone has a better idea, I'll probably continue the same old analysis. At least it predicted a Elite finish for the eventual Champ.

Spock was 4 of 5 making him 44 of 75 (59%) on the year and he wins the annual competition. Norm was 4 of 5 making him 39 of 75 (52%) on the year. I will try better to get Norm to actually make the picks next year.

Since we have some extra room in the last week, I will be doling out my season-ending awards for the year. The 2011 Fantasy MVP award goes to Aaron Rodgers (Brees and Gronkowski were close runner-ups). The PACKERS are the 2011 Fantasy NFL Team of the Year award with 4 top 4 finishes in the position rankings. The 2011 Surprise of the Year is Cam Newtom who wound up 3rd in QB scoring despite the fact he wasn't even drafted in our league (Victor Cruz was a strong runner up). There were many candidates for 2011 Bust of the Year, but I think Chris Johnson earned the title. The 2011 Worst Fantasy NFL Team goes to the RAMS. Sorry Norm, but when a team only scores only 12 points/game, they are sort of a fantasy nightmare.

The Dream Team completed the season sweep of the Body Shop. Te Dream Team only had the week 17 consolation prize to shoot for. Te Shop was looking to avoid that last place finish as well. Both teams failed. The Dream Team was led by Palmer, Crabtree and Fitzgerald as they ended the season on a winning note. The Shop was led by Robinson as they finished their fall from 2010 Champion to the 2011 Cellar Dweller (sorry stole an old SWFFL team name).

The M. Takers avenged their early season loss to the Black Revenge with gusto. The Takers had all 1:00 starters, but in large thanks to Vick, Harvin, Colston, Jackson and Gronkowski, the Takers put up a high-score that (although there were a lot of high-scores this week) nobody else could get. The Takers locked up second place and grabbed the Week 17, which makes that Taker name apropos this year. The Revenge were led by Romo and Lloyd as they ended their season tied for last place but winning the point tie-breaker to stay out of the basement.

The Jelly Beans completed their victory lap by avenging on of their 2 early season losses to the Black & Blue Attack. The Beans completed their 15-2 record breaking season with a win provided in large part by Brees, Floyd and Graham. The Attack were led by Megatron and SeaBass. They left a lot of points on the Bench as they made some Week 17 pickups, which may have actually cost them the win. I can't fault the effort though; I'd rather see that then someone mailing it in at the end.

The Young Gunz avenged their early season loss to the Roxborough Wranglers. The Gunz also looked to be a shoe-in for that Week 17 2nd place prize, but in the end they had to just settle for 3rd place in the final standings. The Gunz were led by Stafford and Gates in their strong finish. The Wranglers were led by Manning and Celek in the loss that dropped them under 500.

The "Game of the Week" honors go to the contest between the Fightin' Irish and the Good Fellas. This was the closest game, had several lead changes during the Sunday night game and wound up being a battle for that Week 17 2nd place prize. The Fellas avenged their early season loss to the Irish as Nicks and Bryant eventually fought off the Cruz onslaught on Sunday night. The Fellas were led by Brady, Turner, Jones and Hernandez as they sealed up the Week 17 2nd prize. The Irish were led by Rivers, Rice and Cruz as they had to settle for 4th place in the final standings.
