![]() Week 16 finds all of the Elite spots clinched, although there could be some change in the final order. For those of you jockeying for a better Elite spot, enjoy it, this is why we do this silly hobby each and every year. For the rest of us it is down to the consolation prizes and maybe a touch of pride. I hope you all enjoyed your Christmas holiday and have a good new year. Don't forget to keep an eye on the old web site (http://swffl.50megs.com). It has updated archives and historical records. I will also add some web-exclusive materials there, like the complete 2011 Draft analysis, as I develop them. Anybody with ideas, send them to me and I will see what I can do. Key Matchups to watch this Week In a game about pride, the Dream Team will try to sweep the defending champion Body Shop. The Fightin' Irish will try to sweep the Good Fellas and maximize that final Elite spot. The M. Takers will try to avenge their early season loss to the Black Revenge and finalize that second place slot. The Jelly Beans will try to avenge their early season loss t the Black & Blue Attack and set the new SWFFL record for wins in a season. The Young Gunz will try to avenge their early season sweep of the Roxborough Wranglers and maybe improve that Elite spot a bit. Spock was 4 of 5 making him 40 of 70 (57%) on the year and he retains top billing, his locks appear above. Norm was 2 of 5 making him 35 of 70 (50%) on the year. His lines (actually my estimates) appear below: DT -9 BS (265) JB -4 BB (252)GF -3 FI (254) YG -1 RW (253) BR -2 MT (256) Three games were over on Sunday. The other 2 games had some Monday Nigh Madness (some more than others). The Black & Blue completed the season sweep of the Dream Team and more importantly escaped that basement battle. The Attack was led by Newton and Megatron. Somehow, I doubt Newton will be a free-agent pick-up next year. The Dream Team was led by Rodgers and Fitzgerald as they managed to loose yet another game. This has been a disappointing year for my team, but the truth is I still like this team - a little help from the scheduling Gods may have helped. |
The Roxborough Wranglers did their part by sweeping the Body Shop (much like the EAGLLES against the Cowpokes) but other teams did not come through for them and thus their slim Elite hopes evaporated. The Wranglers were led by Welker in the victory. Tebow led the Shop in the loss, there were some points on the bench but even the "Best" lineup would have failed to make triple digits. Perhaps that savvy Coach Casey is holding all of his points for that Week 17 consolation prize. The Young Gunz locked up the final Elite spot as they swept the Fightin' Irish, a fellow Elite Team. The Gunz also raked up another weekly helmet, as they were led by Stafford, Marshall, Nelson, White and Akers (sometimes I don't understand the EAGLES rebuilding methods - see B-Dawk). The Irish put up some nice numbers as well, especially those by Rice, Kevin Smith and Cruz. I suppose it is a lot more fun when you are fighting for 2nd-4th place as opposed to 5th-10th place. I would wish both teams Good Luck next week, but they appear to be getting that already on their own. The M. Takers, Sproles, Colston and a 19.6 point lead proved to be too much for the Good Fellas, Turner and Jones on Monday night. The Takers sweep of the Fellas leaves them with on the inside track to second place. The Takers were led by Vick, MJD and Colston. In the loss that eliminated them, the Fellas were led by Brady and Jones. The Fellas had a wealth of points on the bench and had several roads to the "W" were left un-traveled. The "Game of the Week" honors go to the contest between the Jelly Beans and the Black Revenge. It involved the ultimate Elite team, was a close game and had a lead change on Monday night. Besides all that, I sort of owed the Beans a victory lap of sorts. The Beans, Brees and Graham overcame a 30.3 point by the Revenge and Moore. The Beans were led by Brees and Floyd as they clinched at least a tie for best SWFFL record ever. The Revenge was led by Foster and Memdenhal and had plenty of ways to win on the bench. The biggest fly in the ointment for the Revenge was the extremely early exit by Romo. CHATTERBOX:(Get Quotes in by Monday Night)
