![]() Well, week 3 finds 6 teams tied for last (or 5th if you are one these "the glass is half-full" guys). Only 1 team remains undefeated. We've had 2 trades, which might just be a record for this league. Don't forget to keep an eye on the old web site (http://swffl.50megs.com). It has updated archives and historical records. I will also add some web-exclusive materials there, like the complete 2009 Draft analysis, as I develop them. Anybody with ideas, send them to me and I will see what I can do. Key Matchups to watch this Week The Black & Blue will try to keep that perfect record going against the Dream Team. The Tsunami Brothers and Money Takers meet in a contest between 2 of the many 1-2 teams. The Black Revenge will try to stay above the Money Line in a contest with the Jelly Beans. The Quiet Storm and Good Fellas meet in the only contest between teams with a winning record. The Young Gunz and the Body Shop will meet in a battle for teams searching for the .500 level. Norm (actually my estimates) was 3 of 5 (60%) in week 1. His lines appear above. Spock was 2 of 5 (40%) and his locks appear below: BB -17 DT (259) GF -24 QS (242)TB -2 MT (234) YG -28 BS (250) BR -7 JB (229) Two of the games were over on Sunday, 2 more were more or less over and 1 had a little of that Monday Night Madness!! The Good Fellas and Jelly Beans locked up in a low scoring family affair. The Fellas managed to win a game while barely breaking the 80 point barrier. Neither team started a 20 point player. The Good Fellas left a few of them on the bench. The Beans could have been the team heading above the .500 line with a Breaston start over Ginn. The Quiet Storm climbed above .500 by defeating the Young Gunz and the Storm still had Witten, Roy & DeAngelo Williams in their back pocket on Monday. The Storm was led by Cutler and the other Moss. The Young Gunz were led by the original Moss in the loss. The Gunz can't blame the coaching staff alone as they really had no bullets left on the bench. They can blame the General Managers for the empty chambers. |
The Tsunami Brothers and a 35.6 point lead were too much for the Dream Team and Steve Smith. The Brothers were led by Manning and Parker as they notched their first "W". The Dream Team squandered a nice game by Cotchery. The Dream Team's super weapon Drew Brees came up less than super. You know one has to wonder how the highest scoring team in the league is sitting at 1-2. Need I repeat, "A pox upon you Schedule Makers!!" It would be nice to face only double digits one week. The Money Takers and 59.4 point lead were too much for the Body Shop, Romo and Felix Jones. The fact that Casey was their to personally coach his Monday night players did not help either as Romo also failed to toss a TD and Felix Jones got hurt early. The Takers were led by Jones-Drew as they got rid of that 0 in the win column. The Shop failed to field a tarter with 20 points. However they faced their 4th 20 point TD in 3 weeks. If it wasn't for their week 1 victory the Shop may have a case against the Schedule Makers as well. The "Game of the Week" honors go to the contest between the Black & Blue Attack and the Black Revenge. This was the pre-game favorite for "Game of the Week" honors as it featured the 2 undefeated teams. The fact that the 2 teams battled for the helmet as well as first place and there was also some Monday Night Madness made this a no-brainer "Game of the Week". The Attack and 10.1 point lead were too much for the Revenge and Folk. The Attack was led by McGahee, Driver and Boldin as they grabbed sole possession of first place. The Revenge was led by Schuab and Wayne as they suffered their first loss of the year. The Revenge may not have won, but they certainly did not kiss anybody's rings. They may not be swimming with fishes now, but they were definitely put on a boat to the home country for a year or 2 until the heat wears off. OK - no more mixing the Maffia in with Football. You got that Good Fellas and Young Gunz. I await your new name. And no I won't hold my breath. CHATTERBOX:(Get Quotes in by Monday Night)
