NORM'S LINES - Favorite w/Spread on top - Underdog w/Under-Over in parenthesis

The way the transaction wire is buzzing, it looks like a lot of people are a lot more uncomfortable with their drafts than normal. Maybe it is always that way and I just never noticed before. Well one thing I think we all noticed was the record setting performance by the Good Fellas and there backfield. Who will be afraid of drafting Frank Gore next year?

Don't forget to keep an eye on the old web site (http://swffl.50megs.com). It has updated archives and historical records. I will also add some web-exclusive materials there, like the complete 2009 Draft analysis, as I develop them. Anybody with ideas, send them to me and I will see what I can do.

Key Matchups to watch this Week

The first "Black Bowl" happens to be a contest of the only undefeated teams, the Black & Blue Attack and the Black Revenge. The Dream Team will try to surpass the 150 point mark for the 3rd week in a row against the winless Tsunami Brothers. The Body Shop will try to recover from that week 2 "spanking" by taking on the winless M. Takers. In a family affair, the Good Fellas and Jelly Beans meet in a battle of 1-1 teams. The Young Gunz and Quiet Storm wiil meet up to see who can climb above the 500 mark.

Norm's lines (actually my estimates) appear above in light of his victory last year. Spock's locks appear below:

BB -14 BR (254)     GF -27 JB (249)
DT -32 TB (264)     YG -14 QS (238)
MT -18 BS (208)

Two of the games were over on Sunday, the other 3 were more or less over.

The Black & Blue Attack had already beaten the M. Takers and still had Dallas Clark in their back pocket. The "W" by the Attack kept them undefeated and the Takers winless. Peterson, Driver and Clark led the Attack to the victory. The Takers failed to field a player to break the 20 pt. line (incl. Tom Terrific).

The Dream Team had 6 starters surpass the 20 point mark on their way to victory over the Quiet Storm. The 175 point score would be helmet-worthy most weeks, but this was a special week. The Storm failed to field a 20 point player. Both teams wind up in the 6 team log jam at 1-1.

The Black Revenge, Wayne and a 44.4 point lead were too much for the Tsunami Brothers and manning. The Revenge was led by Andre Johnson as they kept their recode clean at 2-0. Manning made a valiant effort to try and help the Brothers notch their first W, but he came up a little short. If the Brothers had started Bell, Henry and Winslow over Jacobs, Daniel and White, they would have notched that first "W".

The Jelly Beans, Ginn and a 36.5 point lead were too much for the Young Gunz and Ronnie Brown. Brown had s very nice game, but Ginn negated much of that. Ryan and Sproules led the Beans to their first victory of 2009. The Gunz are off to an uncharacteristically slow start this year. Hey Gunz, I thought you waited until Week 3 or so to start piling up the "L"s.

The "Game of the Week" honors go to the contest between the Good Fellas and the Body Shop. There were no miracle comebacks for the Body Shop thus time. Once Chris Johnson set the personal scoring record with 3 50+ yard TDs, Frank Gore threw in a couple of more to help the Fellas wrap up the team weekly scoring record. The 2 RB's combined for 150+ points on their own. The 245.6 points the Fellas racked up is higher then 6 of the 10 teams year to date total points. It was so huge, that Warner's and his 20+ points did not even rate a post-game interview. All I can say for the body Shop is that if you're only going to put up an 82 n a week, it is very lucky to do t the week your opponent is smashing scoring records. Save up those points for next week when hopefully your opponent won't be lighting up the scoreboard like a pinball machine. By rhe way, for those who might not know, Game of the Week honors usually go to close games, games with Monday night Madness, later in the year to games between teams battling for first place, high scoring contests, Or games that include something special. This one is definitely in due to the special occurrence clause. In the end both teams sit with most of the league at 1-1.
