NORM'S LINES - Favorite w/Spread on top - Underdog w/Under-Over in parenthesis

Well here we go again. Our 21st season is under way. I hope everyone enjoyed the draft. I'd like to once again thank Ron for hosting the draft. I'd also like to wish all teams good luck. At least I wish you all have enough luck to finish in 2nd place to the Dream Team.

By the way, the old web site (http://swffl.50megs.com) updated archives and historical records. I will also add some web-exclusive materials there like the complete 2009 Draft analysis as I develop them. Anybody with ideas, send them to me and I will see what I can do.

Key Matchups to watch this Week

In a battle of former partners the Black & Blue Attack will take on the Money Takers. In a ocean-theme match-up the pirates of the Black Revenge will take on the Tsunami Brothers. In a battle of teams that hold 8 championships, the Dream Team will take on the Quiet Storm. The Good Fellas will try to whack the Body Shop who netted the first helmet of the 2009 season. The Young Gunz hope to be gobbling up Jelly Beans on Sunday.

Norm will begin the defense of the Oddsmakers next week, his lines appear above, but they will not count in the 2009 Oddsmaker battle.

I did that analysis based on last year's points, It is 26 out of the 56 in picking Elite Teams. As always, this analysis is based on last year's performance in points per game (using the new scoring system). If you are depending on a rookie or a comeback player then ignore these results. If you aren't necessarily relying on either of these type players and you're on the bottom of the list, you might want to consider hitting the transaction wire hard. See the old website for details on what players made up your 2008 Best Lineup.

Every game had at least a little Monday Night Madness!! I guess that is what happens when they have 2 Monday night games and both have a high-powered offense in them (no I did not mean the RAIDERS and BILLS).

The defending Champion Black & Blue Attack defeated the Tsunami Brothers. McFadden and the RAIDERS widened the Attack lead as T.O. and Kaeding did not keep pace on Monday night. The Attack was led Peterson who is well on his way to proving that he was without a doubt the only option as a first pick. None of the Tsunami Brothers' players managed to break the 20 point barrier.

The Black Revenge managed to hold off the M. Takers, Brady and Gostowski on Monday night. The Revenge was led by McNabb and Wayne. The Takers were led by Brady, Jones-Drew and Julius Jones. A Shockey start would have left the Takers a lot more happy on Tuesday morning.

The Quiet Storm held off the Jelly Beans, Welker and Miller on Monday night. The Storm was led by Holmes on Thursday night. Welker led the Jelly Beans in the loss.

The Young Gunz, LT, Moss and Lindell held off the Good Fellas, Gates and Evans. Hassleback, Moss and the EAGLES led the Gunz to victory. The Fellas failed to field a 20 point player.

The "Game of the Week" honors go to the contest between the Body Shop and the Dream Team. As late as 5:00 this looked like a laugher in the Dream Team's favor ue to a huge MVP performance by Brees. Romo kept the Shop fairly close and Carlson went nuts on that LAMBS defense and the LAMBS kicker put up a goose egg. The Dream team still had a comfortable lead with their first pick coming up on Sunday night. Forte came up small. Jennings had brought the Shop back and gave them a small lead later into the 4th quarter. Then the ghost of Webster Slaughter rose up and guided the ball to a wide open Jennings on a long TD pass. He also netted the 2 point conversion. That left the Dream Team down by 1 with only Jackson left on Monday night. Jackson came up one missed Josh Brown FG short of giving the Dream Team the "W". During the game Casey tried to convince me that starting Benson over Addai was the move of the week. I told him that 3 point difference wouldn't make a difference. I was wrong. The Shop gets the helmet. The Dream Team gets that stomach-wrenching feeling that they would have beaten every other team. I wish a pox upon you Schedule Maker!!
