NORM'S LOCKS FORMAT - Favorite w/Spread on top - Underdog w/Under-Over in parenthesis

Week 6 finds 8 teams within 1 game of first place. This is really looking to be a very exciting year. And speaking of exciting, by the time you are setting that week 7 lineup, the PHILLIES may very well be printing up World Series tickets for the first time in 15 years. We will be hoping for results like we had 28 years ago. Young Gunz and Good Fellas, ask your fathers about the 80 Phillies (Rose, Trillo, Bowa, Schmidt, McBride, Maddox, Luzinski, Boone, Carlton & McGraw).

Don't forget to keep an eye on the old web site (http://swffl.50megs.com). It has updated archives and historical records. I will also add some web-exclusive materials there, like the complete 2008 Draft analysis, as I develop them. Anybody with ideas, send them to me and I will see what I can do.

Key Matchups to watch this Week

The Black & Blue Attack will meet the Romo-less Dream Team in a contest of 3-3 teams. The Jelly Beans who are trying to climb over that Elite Line will take on the Black Revenge who is trying to climb out of the basement. The M. Takers and Good Fellas meet in a battle of 4-2 teams in what could very well decide who spends week 8 on the top of the hill. The Body Shop will try to keep pace with the leaders of the pack against the 3-3 Tsunami Brothers. The Young Gunz look to return to their helmet winning days earlier in the season against the 2-4 Quiet Storm (2-4, Joe, say it ain't so.)

Norm lines (my estimates) were 3 of 5 last week making him 14 of 20 (70%) on the year and his lines (my estimates) appear above. Spock's locks were 2 of 5 making him 6 of 20 (30%) on the year, his locks appear below:

BB  -6 DT (232)     TB  -1 BS (217)
JB -21 BR (227)     YG  -3 QS (235)
GF  -5 MT (221)

One game was over on Sunday. Two were more or less over on Sunday. Two were in for a little Monday Night Madness!!

The Jelly Beans defeated the Quiet Storm in a battle of 2-3 teams. The Beans were led by COLT double bubble (hey the COLTS looked like the COLTS again). The Storm was led by McNabb and Andre Johnson in the loss. The Storm made some minor coaching mistakes, but even their best lineup would have lost.

The Tsunami Brothers and a 20.2 point lead were too much for the Black & Blue Attack and Jamal Lewis on Monday night. The Brothers also grabbed their first helmet of the year in large part due to nice games from Portis and Breaston, although every starter but Moss broke double digits. Brees led the Black & Blue in the loss. A Walter and Carlson start would have given the Black & Blue the victory. Both teams are in the log jam at 3-3.

The Body Shop, Eli and a 41.2 point lead were too much for the Black Revenge and Dawson on Monday night. The Shop was led by Thomas Jones. The Shop has won 4 in a row. The Revenge only managed 62 points. And thanks to a horrible combination of injuries and bye weeks, the Revenge only managed 70 roster points (remember when 70 points was actually a decent amount of points).

The Dream Team and Brandon Jacobs easily overcame a 5 point lead against the Good Fellas on Monday night. Jacobs scored early in the 2nd quarter and I was free to put down the remote and watch the Phils. The Dream team was led by Romo (in his last game for at least a month). Greg Jennings led the Fellas in the loss. A Rivers or Jones-Drew start would have had given the Fellas a commanding lead. As it is, the Fellas still have a tenuous hold on first while the Dream Team has climbed back to .500, which this year isn't so bad.

The "Game of the Week" honors go to the contest between the M. Takers and the Young Gunz. The Young Gunz and an 8.5 pt. lead were not enough to hold off the M. Takers and Burress. Burress put youngsters out of their misery late in the second half. The Takers were led by the VIKINGS double bubble (VIKINGS??!!). Cutler and Barber led the Young Gunz in the losing effort. The Young Gunz left plenty of points on the bench. Even some of their coaching decisions that turned out right, did not make a whole lot of sense. Elam over Hanson seemed like a lock. How do you sit Michael Turner? OK, in another league, I got caught with Marvin on my bench so I can't argue that decision. I would have definitely went Elam over Hanson and Turner over Stokely. Although one of these moves was not so great, that lineup would have kept the Young Gunz in a tie for first instead of the M. Takers.
