![]() Week 5 finds a new team on the top of the standings. It also finds 8 teams at 3-2 or 2-3. It is going to be a pretty exciting year if the standings remain this tight all year. BTW, am I the only one that thought the EAGLES would be a really good team this year? I know it is early, but oh well --- GO PHILLIES!!! Don't forget to keep an eye on the old web site (http://swffl.50megs.com). It has updated archives and historical records. I will also add some web-exclusive materials there, like the complete 2008 Draft analysis, as I develop them. Anybody with ideas, send them to me and I will see what I can do. Key Matchups to watch this Week The Black & Blue Attack who just fell out of a tie for first will meet the Tsunami Brothers who just climbed out of a tie for last place. The defending champion Body Shop has climbed to just below the Elite line, with the last place Black Revenge as possibly their last stepping stone into the Elite. The Jelly Beans and Quiet Storm meet in a contest of 2-3 teams. In a family affair the new "King of the Hill" Good Fellas take on dear old Dad and the Dream team. The Young Gunz are no longer on the top of the heap and they face a M. Taker team that has clawed their way into the Elite. Norm lines (my estimates) were 4 of 5 last week making him 11 of 14 (73%) on the year and his lines (my estimates) appear above. Spock's locks were 1 of 5 making him 4 of 15 (27%) on the year, his locks appear below: BB -13 TB (223) GF -10 DT (228)BS -6 BR (222) YG -5 MT (237) JB -2 QS (224) Three of the games were more or less over on Sunday. Two were in for a little Monday Night Madness!! The Tsunami Brothers won the battle for the basement exit door over the Black Revenge. The Brothers were led by O'Sullivan, Portis and Moss. The Revenge were led by Evans in the losing effort. The win has probably staved off any major changes for the Brothers (which have improved their point total each week), but my guess is the guillotine the Revenge front office is being sharpened and head will soon be rolling. The Quiet Storm defeated the Dream Tem with the VIKINGS and the VIKING TE (I refuse to try and type his name again) in their back pocket on Monday Night. The Monday night extras did help the Storm wrap up their first helmet of the year. The Storm was led by an MVP performance by Andre Johnson and a near-MVP performance by TJ Housh (The Storm now has the market on unpronounceable names). Romo and Jacobs led the Dream Team in a losing effort. That 0.2 points by Larry Johnson surely did not help. How do you rush for 190+ yards and 2 TDs one week and only get 2 yards the next week. 2 yards, 6 little feet, and then a bye next week. |
In what turned into a battle for first place, the Good Fellas knocked off the Young Gunz. The Good Fellas did not have any starter clear 20 points however 7 of their starters cleared double digits. The Young Gunz were led by Fitzgerald. It was weird to see only 5 points out of their last WR, TE, PK and ST. The Body Shop, Meachem and a 24 point lead were too much for the Black & blue Attack, Brees, Petersen and Moore. Going into Monday, I thought this game was a lock for "GOW", but the Attack Monday players come up very small. Manning and Witten led the Body Shop to their 3rd straight victory. The Attack had no 20 point scorers started, but they did have a couple on the bench (Warner & Best on Bench: Williams). The "Game of the Week" honors go to the contest between the M. Takers and the Jelly Beans. The Takers and Berrian overcame a 1.4 point lead against The Beans and Bush. There were several lead changes on Monday night (I only know because Bubba kept calling me for an updated score instead of firing up his PC). Berrian finally ended it with a bomb that looked like it was actually intended for someone else. Bush found the end zone twice, but as we all know, his punt returns only help you if you have the SAINTS special teams. Berrian was the only Taker starter to clear 20 points. The COLT double-bubble led the Beans in a losing effort. The Beans did not have a lot of bench points, so they did not leave a W on the bench. CHATTERBOX:(Get Quotes in by Monday Night)
