NORM'S LINES - Favorite w/Spread on top - Underdog w/Under-Over in parenthesis

Week 4 finds no more undefeated teams and no more winless teams. In an underdog week such as this, the standings have condensed considerably. All but 3 teams are only a game out of first, and every team is within 2 games. One note, when a player is released, he is on waivers for 3 days.

Don't forget to keep an eye on the old web site (http://swffl.50megs.com). It has updated archives and historical records. I will also add some web-exclusive materials there, like the complete 2008 Draft analysis, as I develop them. Anybody with ideas, send them to me and I will see what I can do.

Key Matchups to watch this Week

The Black & Blue Attack will try to hold on to their tie for first place against the Defending Champion Body Shop who has bounced back from a slow start. In a battle of teams that found their first "W" in week 3, the Tsunami Brothers take on the Black Revenge. In a battle of a couple of teams trying to get over the Elite line, the Quiet Storm takes on the Dream Team. The Jelly Beans and M. Takers meet in a battle of 2-2 teams. In a battle of the younger generation, the Young Gunz take on the Good Fellas.

Norm lines (my estimates) were 5 of 5 last week making him 7 of 10 (70%) on the year and his lines (my estimates) appear above. Spock's locks were 0 of 5 making him 3 of 10 (30%) on the year, his locks appear below:

BB -27 BS (41)     JB -13 MT (223)
BR  -3 BR (215)     YG  -4 GF (262)
DT  -6 QS (210)

Pretty much all of the games were more or less over on Sunday, there was very little Monday Night Madness!!

The formerly 2-1 Black & Blue Attack leapfrogged the formerly 3-0 Good Fellas in the standings. The Black & Blue were led by Brees, Peterson, Marshall and Walter en-route to their first helmet of the year. The Fellas were led by there WR trio. The youngsters also sat Favre's 6 TD performance and Steven Jackson's break-out game of the year. How long do you wait before you bench your first round bust? Apparently 4 weeks is too early.

The Black Revenge earned their first "W" against the Quiet Storm. Toast of the Revenge and Smitty of the Quiet Storm have faced each other many times since they spilt up the original Black Assassins. One day maybe I will go back and look at the career face to face records. In this tilt, L.T. and Evans led the Revenge to victory. The Storm was led by Miller and Prater in the losing end. The Storm benched a nice game by Chris Johnson, but it would not have mad a change.

The Tsunami Brothers also found that first "W" of the year against the Jelly Beans. The Brothers had nobody over 20 points, but in their defense they only had 2 starters in single digits. The Beans were led by Boldin (who hopefully is recovering from that vicious hit at the end of Sunday's game). The Brothers, despite their first "W" still find themselves in the basement.

The Dream Team, Ward and a 38.4 point lead were too much for the M. Takers, Miller and the RAVENS on Monday night. The Dream Team was led by Romo, T.O and L.J. (who revived his 2005 form for one week at least). The Takers were racked by injuries and the dreaded BYE week. They failed to have a starter surpass the 20 point barrier. The Takers had very little options on their bench or on the waiver wire.

The "Game of the Week" honors go to the contest between the defending Champion Body Shop and the Young Gunz, who were getting ready to put on the crown after 2 helmets in the first 3 weeks. The defending Champions, atopped the Young Gunz in their tracks and said, "Not so fast youngsters!!". The Gunz held onto first place because, basically all the underdogs won. However their grip on first is not quite nearly as strong as what it was. The Shop, were led by Rodger, Jackson, Meachem and Witten. The Gunz were led by Slaton. Fitzgerald and Moss in the losing effort. When a team loses by 7.5 points, it is usually pretty easy to find a bench player or 2 that would make a difference. Schaub or Stewart are those men. The win puts the Shop right back in the running, one game out at 2-2. The dream of the Shop "Repeat" is alive again. In fact, not only is it alive it is no longer even hospitalized. P.S. from the Body Shop: "How about that BILLS pickup!!"
