Congratulations to the Black & Blue for their 4th SWFFL Title. Congrats to the other Elite Teams as well. As we close out our 20th year, I find it hard to believe that we are still going. I had never even heard of fantasy football when I was appointed Commissioner of this new league with several newbees and several veteran teams from the old Freddy Flinstone League. Since then, Fantasy Football has become a household term. I've seen leagues come and go and I am sort of proud that we have a league that has survived so long. We have had owners come and go and even come back again. I think the "coming back again" is proof that our league is not only old, but it is also one of the better places to test our fantasy skills. I hope the SWFFL last another 20 years, but we'll need a bigger trophy!!

OK, this is the part where I look back at the draft analysis I do at the beginning of most years. This ear it picked 2 of the 4 Elite teams making 26 of 56 overall. Still below 50%, but unless someone has a better idea, I'll probably continue the same old analysis.

Spock's locks were 3 of 5 last week making him 37 of 75 (49%) on the year. Norm's Lines (my estimates) were 1 of 5 last week making him 42 of 75 (56%) on the year. Congratulations to Norm or should I say his strategy which helped guide me in estimating picks each week.

Since we have some extra room in the last week, I will be doling out my season-ending awards for the year. The 2007 Fantasy MVP award is a tie between Drew Brees & D'Angelo Williams. The CARDINALS wrapped up the 2008 Fantasy NFL Team of the year award with the #5 QB and 2 top 10 wideouts. There were several very good candidates for 2008 Surprise of the year. I am going with D'Angelo Williams. Close behind Williams with honorable mentions are Michael Turner and Roddy White. There were just as many candidates for 2008 Bust of the year. I was going to go with Tom Brady because of the injury, but at least an injured player doesn't keep ruining your season with horrible performances. The Bust of 2008 (in a year when many first rounders had a a shot at this) goes to L.T.. The 2008 Worst Fantasy NFL Team goes to the RAIDERS for the second straight year (Thanks for that win against Tampa).

The Young Gunz completed the season sweep against the Black Revenge. This was the closest game of the week and probably should have been the Game of the Week. However, it was the only game that did not involve a Elite Team, so the honors had to go elsewhere. The Gunz were led by Turner and Fitzgerald. The Revenge was led by Tomlinson. An Evans start over Curtis would have given the Revenge a Week 17 win. The Revenge had a disappointing season altogether. The Gunz started fast but faded in the mid-season.

The Quiet Storm managed to hold onto 3rd place despite losing the second game of the season series with the Good Fellas. The Storm was led by an MVP performance Andre Johnson and pretty good performance by Dwayne Bowe in the losing effort. The Good Fellas, besides winning their last game also won the Week 17 2nd place helmet and all that goes with that. The Fellas were led by Jackson and Rivers. The Scheffler TD in the Sunday night game secured the Week 17 2nd place prize.

In a low scoring affair, the Tsunami Brothers completed the season sweep of the M. Takers. The Brothers were led by Breaston. The Takers did not have any player clear the 20 point barrier. Although the Takers loss closed out any title hopes, luckily it did not cost team second place because of the Storm loss.

In a game that decided the final Elite spot, the Body Shop avenged their early season loss to the Dream Team. The Shop was led by Rodgers and the EAGLES. Unfortunately for the Shop, they needed to win by 40 more points. The Dream Team was led by Calvin Johnson in the losing effort as they limped into the final Elite spot. That makes the final Elite teams 0 for 3 in Week 17 so far. I guess it was a good thing these guys locked up their Elite spots earlier this season.

The "Game of the Week" honors go to the contest between the Black & Blue Attack and the Jelly Beans. The Attack only had to win their game to wrap up the title. As it turns out, they did not need to win. The Attack won it in style. They wrapped up the season winning 3 helmets in a row. They were led by Brees, Peterson, Colston and the STEELERS. The Beans were led by Driver in the losing effort. So the Attack won the Title, the Week 17 helmet which was their third in a row and they were the only Elite Team to win in Week 17. Nice finish Mike and Eddie.
