![]() Week 14 was no better than Week 13 for the Commish. Apparently public appeals to the Fantasy Football Gods are not welcome, so henceforth I will keep those pleas private. Because of points, only 6 teams are still alive for the championship. I haven't looked at schedules, but that could knock another couple of teams out of contention. Elite spots are still possible for most teams, but time is getting short. Don't forget to keep an eye on the old web site (http://swffl.50megs.com). It has updated archives and historical records. I will also add some web-exclusive materials there, like the complete 2008 Draft analysis, as I develop them. Anybody with ideas, send them to me and I will see what I can do. Key Matchups to watch this Week The Black & Blue Attack will try to avenge their early season loss to the Tsunami Brothers and hold on to that top spot. The Body Shop will try to complete the season sweep of the Black Revenge and keep their slim Elite hopes alive. The Quiet Storm will try to avenge their early season loss to the Jelly Beans and try to break out of the 9 win pack. In a family affair the Dream Team will try to complete the season sweep of the Good Fellas and keep their ever-decreasing chances for a title alive. The M. Takers will try to complete the season sweep of the Young Gunz and keep their title hopes alive. Spock's locks were 3 of 5 last week making him 28 of 60 (47%) on the year. He retains top billing. Norm's Lines (my estimates) were 1 of 5 last week making him 37 of 60 (62%) on the year and his lines appear below: TB -1 BB (225) DT -8 GF (242)BR -2 BS (232) YG -3 MT (221) JB -1 QS (219) Three games were over on Sunday. The other two were in for some Monday Night Madness!! The Quiet Storm completed the season sweep of the Dream Team. Due to the efforts of Chris Johnson and many other minor contributors, the Storm and not the Dream Team moved along with the pack from 8-5 to 9-5 and thus are in fine position for another title. The Dream Team's Calvin Johnson was the only starter to clear the 20 point level. Even the Dream Team's large amount of bench points would not have helped. The M. Takers completed the season sweep of the Jelly Beans. The Takers once again inflicted some Sunday night sadness on another team as the RAVENS defense put the Takers ahead in the 4th quarter. The Takers needed a huge Welker performance at 4 to make the "W" even possible. Manning led the Beans in the loss. Pretty much any RB or WR but Chambers would have given the Beans the win. I don't get IT, an owner starts Frerotte over Ryan and pulls off the "W". Sometimes it is better to be lucky than good. Cool off Bubba, just checking to see if anyone reads this drivel. |
The Good Fellas completed the season sweep of the Young Gunz. The Fellas scored their second helmet of the year thanks in large part to nice performances by Rivers, Smith and White. The Young Gunz failed to field a starter over the 20 point mark. The Fellas still have a reasonable shot at the Elite. The Black Revenge avenged their early season loss to the Tsunami Brothers as Kasay and a 11.3 point lead were too much for the Brothers and the BUCCANEERS on Monday night. The Hill move worked out for the Revenge, even though a Campbell start would have still nabbed the "W". The Brothers had no 20 point starters. The loss did not totally eliminate the Brothers' Elite chances. The "Game of the Week" honors go to the contest between the Black & Blue Attack and the Body Shop. The Attack, Williams and a 34 point lead were too much for the Shop and Bryant on Monday night. Actually, this game had very little chance of being "GOW", but Antonio Bryant had to have the Attack sweating late into Monday night. Williams put on a 4th quarter spurt and basically wiped out all of Bryant's earlier impact. The Attack was led by Marshall, Williams and the STEELERS as they maintained their spot at the top of the standings. Bryant and Rodgers led the Shop in the losing effort. The Shop's chances at repeating are pretty much over. CHATTERBOX:(Get Quotes in by Monday Night)
