![]() Well here we go again. Our 20th season is under way. I hope everyone enjoyed the draft. I'd like to thank Ron for hosting the draft once again. I'd like to wish all teams good luck. At least I wish you all have enough luck to finish in 2nd place to the Dream Team. By the way, on the old web site (http://swffl.50megs.com), has updated archives and historical records. I will also add some web-exclusive materials there like the complete 2008 Draft analysis as I develop them. Anybody with ideas, send them to me and I will see what I can do. Key Matchups to watch this Week In a battle of two of the most successful SWFFL team, The Quiet Storm and Black & Blue Attack will try to hand each other their first loss. In another battle of grizzled veterans looking for their first W of the year the Black Revenge will take on the reeling M. Takers. The Good Fellas will try to keep their season perfect against the Tsunami Brothers who were hoping to get off to a better start this year. The defending Champion Body Shop and the Monday night victim Jelly Beans will square off in hopes of getting that first W of 2008. In a battle of 2 of the more boisterous teams, the Young Gunz and Dream team will each try to avoid their first loss of the year. Spock will begin the defense of the Oddsmakers next week, his lines appear above, but they will not count in the 2008 Oddsmaker battle. I did that analysis based on last year's points, It is 24 out of the 52 in picking Elite Teams. As always, this analysis is based on last year's performance in points per game (using the new scoring system). If you are depending on a rookie or a comeback player then ignore these results. If you aren't necessarily relying on either of these type players and you're on the bottom of the list, you might want to consider hitting the transaction wire hard. See the old website for details on what players made up your 2007 Best Lineup.
Most of the games were more or less over on Sunday, but there was one game with a little Monday Night Madness!! |
The Dream Team defeated the Tsunami Brothers in week 1. The Dream Team was led in large part by the Cowboy double-bubble. I really understand the definition of bitter-sweet watching Romo and T.O. hooking up all day. The Tsunami Brothers were led by Randy Moss, who did not miss a step when Brady left the game. I'd be a little nervous about that QB situation in New England. The Good Fellas had a 22.7 point lead on the defending Champion Body Shop and they had Gre Jennings in their back pocket as well. The Fellas were led by Favre and Gore. The Shop's only 20 point player was Aaron Rodgers on the bench. The Shop had a rough week 1 in their title defense, plus a quick boot in Survivor (it was me or Casey). Casey how could you resist starting Rogers against Favre? The Black and Blue Attack, a 40.8 pt. lead and Peterson were too much for the Black Revenge and Ryan Grant on Monday night. The Attack was led by Brees and Willie Parker who may have already exceeded his 2007 TD count. The Revenge failed to have any player on the roster clear 20 pts. The Quiet Strom, a 48.2 pt. lead, Young and Miller were too much for the M. Takers, McFadden and Berrian. The Storm was led by Westbrook and Andre Johnson. The Takers season all but ended by 1:30 in week 1 as their first rounder limped off the field for the last time in 2008. I am sure the Brady injury has wrecked many a fantasy team this year. Sorry Bubba. The "Game of the Week" honors go to the contest between the Young Gunz and the Jelly Beans. The Young Gunz and Cutler carried a 6 pt. lead into Monday night against the Beans, Driver and Crosby, In the early Monday night tilt Crosby and Driver gave the Beans a nice little lead. However in the nightcap, Cutler sliced and diced the Raiders defense, giving the Young Gunz the victory and the first helmet of the year. Both teams put up big points, but someone has to lose. The Gunz were led by an MVP performance by Turner. The Reggies did well for the Beans in a losing effort. CHATTERBOX:(Get Quotes in by Monday Night)
