![]() Week 9 found the transaction wire heating up again. For those of you who might not recall, there is a TRADE DEADLINE of WEEK 14, 1:00 on Sunday. After that there will be no trades. So those of you with a surplus of talent at one position and a weakness in another, better make a deal soon. There is one BYE weeks left, so be careful with that starting lineup (Did you hear me GoodFellas). Here is a Casey's Survivor Pool update. Only 11 remain. Of the remaining survivors 4 are SWFFL'ers (Bone, Judge, Norm and yours truly). The printed notes have some information than isn't on any of the web versions. If you do not have word, I can send PDF versions of the Notes or you can download wordviewer from Microsoft.com. The league's url is http://swffl.50megs.com . Key Matchups to watch this Week The Secane Tsunami will look to repeat their week 1 victory over the Black & Blue Attack and make that 1st place battle more interesting. The Good Fellas are out to avenge their loss to the Quiet Storm. The Storm may need to sweep to hold on to their Elite spot. The Jail Birds will try to sweep the Body Shop. Neither team is doing particularly well, but maybe the Jail Birds can recapture some of that week 1 cockiness. In a family affair the Jelly Beans will try to avenge their early season loss to the Dream Team. The Black Revenge would like to sweep the M. Takers and maybe climb out of the basement. The Takers have faired much better since week 1 tiebreaker loss. Norm (my estimates) was 4/5 making 20/35 (57%) on the year and he regains top billing. Spock was 1/5 making him 19/35 (54%) on the year and he lines appear below: BB -5 ST (211) JB -1 DT (207)QS -14 GF (200) MT -17 BR (207) BS -2 JB (202) Four games were decided on Sunday and one was more or less over. The M. Takers had Darrell Jackson and Josh Brown in their back pocket Monday, but they were not needed to defeat the Secane Tsunami on their only meeting this year. The Takers were led by Galloway, Shockey, Manning and Barber. The Tsunami was led by L.J. and T.O. The Tsunami had enough bench points to hold off the "L" until Monday, but the "L" was coming anyway. |
The Jelly Beans defeated the high and mighty Black & Blue Attack in their only meeting of the year. The loss ended a 7 game winning streak and perhaps gave some of us the ide that we might still have a shot at the title. The Beans were led by a monster-monster performance by Javon Walker - who saw that coming. Their running game as none too shabby either. The Attack seemed to take the week off as only a couple of starters managed to clear double digits (and not by much). The Attack fell back to the pack a bit and the Beans inched up getting a little closer to the Elite Line. In their only meeting of the year, the Dream Team looked like they had the Quiet Storm under control, but this battle of Elite Teams was far from decided. On Sunday night L.T. took control and made it clear why he should still be a top 3 pick if not the top pick. The Storm is now breathing down the Black & Blue's neck, while the Dream Team has been exiled from the Elite Spots. Kevin Jones put up nice numbers for the Dream team in the losing effort. The Body Shop and a 72 point lead proved way too much for the Good Fellas, Jordan and Moss on Monday night. The Shop is not having a particularly great year, but they can at least claim they won the season series with the Good Fellas. The Shop was led by Colston, Parker and Romo (or who, who and who?). The Shop got and unneeded assist from the Fellas when they left Steve Smith in their lineup. Yo, Brain And Danny, when Steve scores points at the family picnic on his BYE week, they don't count. The "Game of the Week" honors go to the contest between the Black Revenge and the Jail Birds. This is sort of an odd selection since neither team is even sniffing the Elite Line. However it was the closest game and even if it hadn't been a game between two teams carrying 7 game losing streaks has got to get "GOW" honors. Harrison and Driver led the Jail Birds out of their losing streak. The Revenge wasted a good performance by the LIONS double bubble. A Ronnie Brown start instead of Frank Gore would have had the Jail Birds staring at the 8 game losing streak from the basement instead of the Black Revenge. Congratulations on the return to the "W" column Jail Birds. CHATTERBOX:(Get Quotes in by Monday Night)
