![]() The transaction wire was on fire last week, this week it was as cold as ice. This is probably due to the coming end of the BYE weeks. There is still a couple of BYE weeks left, so be careful with that starting lineup. Here is a Casey Survivor Pool update. Only 13 of the original 33 remain (we've had some multiple eliminations and several missing lineups). Of the remaining survivors 4 are SWFFL'ers (Bone, Judge, Norm and yours truly). The Master of Ceremonies (Casey) was eliminated in week 8, but his son is still alive. In past years, I've not mentioned the pool, but this year I decided to do it. Every couple of weeks I will let you know how the SWFFL is doing. The printed notes have some information than isn't on any of the web versions. If you do not have word, I can send PDF versions of the Notes or you can download wordviewer from Microsoft.com. The league's url is http://swffl.50megs.com . Key Matchups to watch this Week The Secane Tsunami and M. Takers meet for the only time this week. Both teams are definitely contenders. The Black & Blue Attack will meet the Jelly Beans in their only encounter of the 06 season. The Attack is on fire, the Beans need to turn things around soon. The Dream Team and Quiet Storm meet in a battle of Elite Teams. The loser faces the real possibility of dropping below that Elite Line. The Body Shop and Good Fellas meet for the only time this year in a battle that almost has to be considered a must-win situation for both teams. The Black Revenge and Jail Birds meet for the only time this year win a battle of 2 teams with 6 game losing streaks. One streak will survive week 9 and be extended to 7 games. One will end with that team winning for the first time since Week 2. Spock was 4/5 making 18/30 (60%) on the year and he retains top billing. Norm (my estimates) was 2/5 making him 16/30 (53%) on the year and he lines (again my estimates) appear below: MT -1 ST (199) BS -3 GF (191)JB -2 BB (200) JA -4 bR (188) DT -8 QS (210) Four games were decided on Sunday and one was more or less over. The Quiet Storm and a lead of 82 points were just way too much for the Jail Birds, Brady and Longwell on Monday night. The Storm's 150 points on Sunday were enough to secure the victory and the Strom's first helmet of the year. The Strom was led by an MVP performance by Tomlinson. All the other Storm starters were close to or over double-digits. The Jail Birds wasted very nice performances by the RAVENS and Brady. The win kept the Storm above the Elite Line. The Jail Birds have made the trip from first place 2-0 with 2 helmets to last place 2-6 and lowest point total in the SWFFL. That is one hell of a slide. The Dream Team defeated the Good Fellas to keep pace with the Black & Blue. The Dream Team was led by Ahman Green and Andre Johnson. Stebve Simth led the Good Fellas on the losing end. Looks like 'Father knows best' this week. Hopefully that classic will still be in full effect in Week 17. |
The Body Shop climbs out of the cellar by defeating the Jelly Beans. The Body Shop was led by Marques Colston, who is making a strong bid for Free Agent of the year. None of the Beans' starters cleared 20 points however a couple of bench players did. And yes those bench players would have made a difference in the outcome of the game. The Black & Blue Attack looked vulnerable with a weak performance by McNabb, but the M. Takers were unable to take advantage of the first place mis-step. The Takers might have had a shot if Manning would have thrown the ball to somebody else besides Wayne. But they bumped heads several times with Wayne clearly getting the better of it. The Takers also had a few players on the bench that would have made the difference and would have had the whole league except the Black & Blue congratulating them. The "Game of the Week" honors go to the contest between the Secane Tsunami and the Black Revenge. Given the absolute absence of Monday Night Madness in the league, I'll give "GOW" to the game decide by a tie-breaker. Larry Johnson's 38 bear out Joe Horn's or Rex Grossman's 26 to give the Tsunami the victory via tiebreaker. The Revenge has now been on both sides of the tiebreaker decision. Besides LJ, Bulger and T.O. put up nice numbers for the Tsunami. There was only one lineup change that would have made a difference for the Revenge. Of course any tie would be like that. The Tusnami keeps a tight grip on 2nd place. The Revenge are trying to beat the Jail Birds out for longest losing streak. CHATTERBOX:(Get Quotes in by Monday Night)
