![]() After Week 6, I received no comments about Bubba's concern. I can only assume that nobody cares or nobody bothers reading these things. I really hope it is the first reason. I hope the SWFFL contingent had fun in New Orleans this week. Next time, leave the RAM fan home. I think he was bad luck. Don't forget the dreaded BYEs when setting your lineup. The printed notes have some information than isn't on any of the web versions. If you do not have word, I can send PDF versions of the Notes or you can download wordviewer from Microsoft.com. The league's url is http://swffl.50megs.com . Key Matchups to watch this Week The Secane Tsunami and Jelly Beans meet in the semi-annual Cedar Lane bowl. Both teams are doing relatively well. Speaking of bowls, this week Also features our semi-annual Black Bowl between the Black Revenge and the Black & Blue Attack. The Attack is sitting pretty at 5-1, the Revenge has found the road a little tougher to travel. The Jail Birds and Good Fellas meet. My guess one team testifies and goes in the witness protection plan. The other winds up behind bars, you can probably guess which is which. The Dream Team takes on the Body Shop. The Shop is having a rough year and the Dream Team had a really rough week 6. The last game features a battle between 4-2 teams as the Quiet Storm take on the M. Takers. Has anybody noticed that the new look M. Takers are doing much better than the older version? Spock was 4/5 making 9/20 (45%) on the year and he gains top billing. Norm was (my estimates) was 1/5 making him 12/20 (60%) on the year and he lines (again my estimates) appear below: ST -1 JB(207) DT -10 BS(212)BB -19 BR(213) BD -1 QS(195) GF -7 JA(199) Two games were decided on Sunday, one was more or less over. The final two games had some Monday night implications. In the highest scoring game in SWFFL history, the Secane Tsunami defeated the Dream Team 151-140. It is without doubt the highest scoring game in history and the highest score by a loser. A Kevin Jones start would have kept the Dream Team above the Elite Line instead of the Secane Tsunami. The Dream Team wasted an MVP performance by Tory Holt. The Secane Tsunami's Bulger and Reggie Brown more than made up for the Holt performance. Don't you just hate when you outscore every team in the league except for the team you are playing. I've had it happen to me several times, you never get used to it. In another game that featured triple digit scoring by both teams, the M. Takers defeated the Good Fellas. The Takers were led by Vick, Barber, Jackson and Brown. The Fellas wasted a "2005ish" performance by Steven Smith. Maybe that hammy is finally healed. The "W" keeps the Takers above the Elite Line. The loss drops the Fellas two games below 500, which is not terminal at this point, but they definitely have to get healthy soon. |
In a game with one of the lower scoring performances, the Jelly Beans and a 91 point lead were just too much for the Jail Birds and Berrian. The Beans were led by Delhomme and T.J Housheywhatzit. In a weird occurrence, not one Jail Bird player in the starting lineup or on the bench managed to score double digits. With the win, the Jelly Beans climbed back to 500 . The Jail Birds have now dropped 4 in a row. All I can say is that beginner's luck does not last as long as it used to. Although this game was tied for the closest and also had Monday night implications, I had to hold back the "GOW" honors. The Quiet Storm, Muhammad and a 20 point lead were too much for the Black revenge, Grossman and Gould. That vaunted CARDINAL defense did in the Attack. LT and Branch led the Quiet Storm. The Revenge wasted nice performances by Coles and Williams. A Hassleback or Horn start would have left both teams at 3-3. The "Game of the Week" honors go to the contest between the Body Shop and the Black % Blue Attack. The battle of first and last went into Monday with the Attack and Boldin holding a 25 point lead against the Shop, Rackers and the BEARS, In the end, the Attack still won by 17, but Boldin had to put up an unreal number just to keep up with the BEARS. The BEARS 3 TDs may start to make that 3rd round pick look justified; however the 1-5 record rips the rug right out from under the legs of that premise. A Brees and Bryant start could have shrunk the difference between first and last to 3 games. CHATTERBOX:(Get Quotes in by Monday Night)
