NORM'S LINES (my estimates) FORMAT - Favorite w/Spread on top - Underdog w/Under-Over in parenthesis

After Week 5, we have no undefeated teams and no winless teams. I always like it when everybody gets their "W" on the board, just as long as it is not my team's expense. I asked about how Sportsline was working out and I got one voice of concern from a Veteran who is supposed to be silent this year. At any rate, he brings up a valid point. In our old format, team owners had to do their own digging for information on injuries, starting, etc. Now, it is all there in one spot. Personally, I know I am going to get the info no matter what, so it sort of does level the field for those less willing to hunt for info. Generally, I am against stuff like this, but even with the easy info, I've see some of the lazier owners just flat out not change lineups. So does the ready access to info help the lazy owner or just the less computer-literate owners? If it is the latter, than I have no problem with it.

The printed notes have some information than isn't on any of the web versions. If you do not have word, I can send PDF versions of the Notes or you can download wordviewer from Microsoft.com. The league's url is http://swffl.50megs.com .

Key Matchups to watch this Week

The Secane Tsunami and Dream Team will meet in a match of 3-2 teams. The loser may well drop below the Elite line. In a bookend battle the first place Black & Blue Attack will take on the last place Body Shop. I'd like to say "when these two teams meet you have to throw out the records", but as much as I overuse football clichés, I just can't go there this time. The Quiet Storm and Black Revenge will meet in a battle of former partners. Neither team has won in the last couple of weeks. In a Secane battle, the Jail Birds meet the Jelly Beans. BTW, did not notice this at the draft but the Jail Birds violated one of my personal (read: nobody else knows about them) rules when they took a name with the same initials of an existing team. So let's just call this one the "JB" bowl. In an underworld battle, the M. Takers take on the Good Fellas. This one may be more about who rules the "Turf" around the Elite Line.

Norm was (my estimates) was 4/5 making him 11/15 (73%) on the year and he retains top billing. Spock was 1/5 making him 5/15 (33%) on the season and locks appear below:

ST  -3 DT(199)     JB -6 JA(202)
BB -23 BS(205)     MT -3 GF(191)
QS -11 BR(199)

Two games were decided on Sunday, 2 more were more or less over. The final game had some Monday night implications.

The Black & Blue Attack defeated the Dream Team on Sunday in what was a battle of the top 2 teams in the standings. The Attack was led by Donovan McNabb, who is turning out to be the steal of the Draft, and Boldin. The Dream Team's roster failed to produce a 20 point scorer, as they were hit hard by the BYE.

The Good Fellas defeated the Black Revenge. The Revenge has now lost 3 in arrow and the Fellas have won 2 in a row. Depsite their alternate paths through the schedule, biot teams have owund up at 2-3. The Revenge was led by Robbie Gould and the Fellas were led by Fred Taylor.

The Body Shop finally notched their first "W" at the expense of the Secane Tsunami. The Body Shop had several starters clear double digits and the Tsunami only had Bulger and L.J. clear double digits. Neither team had a 20 point starter. The Shop and a 23 pt. lead were too much for the Tsunami and Bell on Monday night. I was half-expecting a big night out of Bell given the weather and the Body Shop's position in the Fantasy Football God's doghouse. Perhaps the "W" is a sign of forgiveness.

The M. Takers and a 24 point lead were too much for the Jail Birds and the RAVENS defense. The Takers were led by Galloway and the JAGUARS. The Jail Birds roster failed to produce a 20 point scorer. The Jail Birds left some points on the bench, but even their best lineup would have come up short. The Takers have won 2 in a row and climbed up over the Elite Line. The Jail Birds have lost 3 in a row now after a torrid start.

The "Game of the Week" honors go to the contest between the Jelly Beans and the Quiet Storm. The Storm and a 7 point lead were not able to hold off the Beans and Javon Walker on Monday night. In our new scoring system 7 points is nothing for a number one wide out. In the losing effort the Storm was led by Jennings. The Beans were led by the E-A-G-L-E-S Defense. The Lito Shepard TD, ended the Cowboys comeback and the Storm's chances to win this week. In a game decided by only 4 points there is usually a player or two that may have made a difference. This game was no different.
