![]() Well another season has come to an end. Congratulations to the Quiet Storm and the rest of the Elite Teams. We are trying to set up the settle-up party for Sunday, February 11th at Maggie O'Neils. The Pro-Bowl is on Saturday, but we won't be able to get the room on a Saturday, so we will go for Sunday. Since we have some extra room in the last week, I will be doling out my season-ending awards for the year. Despite his weak finish Tomlinson wrapped up the 2006 Fantasy MVP award way before week 16. Featuring the highest scoring QB and WR, the COLTS wrapped up the 2006 Fantasy NFL Team of the year award. There were several very good candidates for 2006 Surprise of the year. I am going with Frank Gore. Close behind Gore with honorable mentions are Lee Evans and Marques Colston. There were just as many candidates for 2006 Bust of the year. I was going to go with Alexander because of his lack of production for such a high pick, but he sort of straightened himself out at the end of the year and the winner of the award, Randy Moss, pulled ahead of him. Did anybody even realize he was injured the last few weeks and did not play? Not that he put up much in the way of points when was not injured. The 2006 Worst Fantasy NFL Team goes to Moss and his team. The RAIDERS, look like they need a while lot more than one #1 draft pick. That little analysis I did after the draft enjoyed one of it's most accurate years in a while. It picked 3 of the 4 Elite teams. The other team it picked to be in the Elite came in 5th. The analysis has now successfully selected 24 of the 52 Elite Teams in the last 13 years. Norm (my estimation) was 3 for 5 making him 35/65 (54%) on the year and he just barely edged out Spock. Spock was 2 for 5 making him 33/65 (51%) on the year. Normally the Dream Team does better when Norm wins. The Black Revenge avenged their early season loss to the Secane Tsunami. The "W" did not do much for the Revenge but it did manage to keep the Tsunami from wrapping up 3rd place. The Tsunami was able to hold on to 4th place. The first game was decided by a tiebreaker. This one was decided by 3 points. The Revenge was led by Roy Williams and Santonio Holmes. The Tusnami was led by Larry Johnson and Terell Owens. The Tsunamu can probably hang this loss on Andy Reid as Reggie Brown would have probably scored at least 4 points if he hadn't been rested like the rest of the EAGLE starters. The Quiet Storm won their 4th Championship by completing the season sweep of the Jail Birds. The 2006 Championship gives Joe Smith 5 Championships and makes him the most highly decorated owner in the SWFFL. The Storm had the highest point total and walked away with a league high 4 helmets, leaving no doubt as to who the 2006 Champs were. Palmer and Evans led the Storm to victory. The Jail Birds failed to field a starter with 20 or more points. The Jail Birds started like gangbusters but hit that rookie wall real early. Better luck next year Jail Birds. |
The Good Fellas avenged their early season loss to the Dream Team. The Fellas knocked their Dad and partner right out of the Elite, scoring more points than they had in the last couple of weeks. OK, I guess the youngsters finally got a little revenge for the whole Tim Dwight affair. The Fellas were led by Smith and Kennison. The Dream Team failed to field a starter who put up 20 points. Hey, at least we spent some hard earned cash for that Ron Dayne 0. The Jelly Beans avenged their early season loss to the Body Shop, wrapped up a Elite spot and shattered the Body Shop's Elite hopes. The Beans did this all with out benefit of any QB points, as Garcia got a Reid-rest too. Steven Jackson's 53 points made up for the lack of QB points for the Beans. The Shop had been the hottest team, but alas they were cooled by the Jackson Jett. The Shop wasted nice performances by Romo, Betts and Parker. The "Game of the Week" honors go to the contest between the Black & Blue Attack and the M. Takers. The Black & Blue needed a "W" and a whole lot of points or a Storm loss to capture the title. The Takers were all but pronounced "DOA" in last week's notes. They needed several key losses and almost a couple of hundred points to find their way into the Elite. One of these teams reached their goal. The Takers avenged their early season loss to the Attack, set the new one week record for scoring (which also gave them the consolation prize) and managed to sneak into the Elite anyway. The Takers new record of 180 points was due largely to Tiki Barber's 67 point game (also a new record). Manning, Moss and Galloway also pitched in with nice games. The Attack only had Young score over 20 as they failed in their quest for another trophy. By the way, when a team sets the scoring record, I had to give it Game of the Week.
