NORM'S LINES (My Estimates) FORMAT - Favorite w/Spread on top - Underdog w/Under-Over in parenthesis

Week 16 finds the Notes back to their normal format, even if they are a little late. Sorry about last couple of weeks' abbreviated versions of the notes. The Quiet Storm and Black & Blue Attack have clinched the top 2 spots. What order they finish in is still up for grabs. Speaking of up for grabs, the final 2 Elite spots are still available to 5 teams. Not bad, it is the last week and 7 teams are still technically alive for a Elite spot. By the way, Happy Holidays!!

The printed notes have some information than isn't on any of the web versions. If you do not have word, I can send PDF versions of the Notes or you can download wordviewer from Microsoft.com. The league's url is http://swffl.50megs.com .

Key Matchups to watch this Week

The Secane Tsunami won via a tie breaker against the Black Revenge in week 8. The Tsunami still have Elite hopes and will need to complete the season sweep to keep those hopes alive. The Quiet Storm will probably have to repeat their early season drubbing of the Rookie Jail Birds, although they can back their way into a Title. The Dream Team dropped out of the title chase in the last 2 weeks and if they do not sweep the Good Fellas, they may just drop out of the Elite. The Body Shop has made an incredible climb into the Elite, they'd like to stay there but are facing the Jelly Beans who are the 2nd highest scoring team in the league. The Beans are hoping to parlay a win ad their high point total with a little help elsewhere and sneak their way into the Elite. The Black & Blue probably need a win against the M. Takers and a loss by the Storm to win the title (barring a record breaking one week score). The M. Takers need a lot of help and a truckload of points to get into the Elite, but they are technically alive.

Norm (my estimation) is 32/60 (53%) on the year and he retains top billing. Spock 31/60 (52%) on the year and his locks appear below:

ST  -3 BR (209)     JB -4 BS (210)
QS -16 JA (210)     BB -3 MT (199)
DT -18 GF (198)

Only one game was decided on Sunday, the rest were still up in the air.

The Quiet Storm avenged their early season loss to the M. Takers and sewed up at least 2nd place. The Storm was led by Lee Evans as L.T. has cooled off a little after pretty much smashing every record in the books. The Takers wasted a nice performance by Manning, who is managing to finish among the top 4 QBs yet again. The Takers best lineup would have still fell short, but it would have at least made Westbrook's points on Monday mean something.

The Jelly Beans avenged an early season loss to the Secane Tsunami and split the Cedar Lane series. The "W" kept the Beans Elite hopes alive (the Helmet did not hurt either). The loss knocked the Tsunami out of the Elite, a move they hope is only temporary. The Beans were led by Steven Jackson while the Tsunami was led by Bulger. All these RAMS and no Norm, go figure.

The Jail Birds avenged their early season loss to the Good Fellas as both of these teams are pretty much just playing out the season. The one thing both these teams have is they are young and will have plenty of other years to go for the title. Harrison led the Jailbirds to victory. The Fellas did not have a starter clear 20 points and put up the low score of the year.

The Body Shop won their 5th in a row and their 8th of the last 9 as they dispatched the Dream Team and avenged their early season loss. The win put the Shop in the Elite after a 1-6 start. The loss has the Dream Team hoping they can still hang on to a Elite Spot. Betts led the Shop to their most recent "W". The Dream Team had no starter with more than 20 points.

The "Game of the Week" honors go to the contest between the Black Revenge and the Black & Blue Attack. The Attack swept the "Black Bowl" series for 2006 and kept their title hopes alive. The Attack was led by Alexander and Jones-Drew. Alexander seems to be getting back to form to try and confuse the top few picks for next year (although I think there will be a consensus number one next year). Rudi Johnson was the only Black Revenge starter with 20 or more points. The Revenge is out of it but the Attack is still very much in the race for the title. I always feel more comfortable when the "Black Bowl" has some meaning. Sort of like, all is right with the world as long as one of these teams is in the title hunt.
