![]() Well here we go again. Our 18th season is under way. I hope everyone enjoyed the draft. I'd like to thank Ron for hosting the draft once again. I'd like to welcome the new league members and I wish all good luck. At least I wish you all have enough luck to finish in 2nd place to the Dream Team. Key Matchups to watch this Week In a meteorological event, The Quiet Storm and Secane Tsunami will try to hand each other their first loss. The next battle involves the Black & Blue Attack and the Goodfellas. Both of these teams are searching for the first win. The Rookie Jail Birds hit the SWFFL with a bang, and this week they face the also undefeated Dream Team looking for some payback for some of those draft day comments. In a battle of grizzled vets, the Body shop fresh off a heart-breaking loss will try to get healthy against the Black Revenge who needed a tie-break to secure their first "W". The Jelly Beans and Money Takers meet in the final contest, both teams lost by slim (or no) margin week 1 and are looking to get the bad taste of those close losses out of their mouths. Spock will begin the defense of the Oddsmakers next week, his lines appear above, but they will not count in the 2006 Oddsmaker battle. I did that analysis based on last year's points, It is 21 out of the 48 in picking Elite Teams. As always, this analysis is based on last year's performance in points per game (using the new scoring system). If you are depending on a rookie or a comeback player then ignore these results. If you aren't necessarily relying on either of these type players and you're on the bottom of the list, you might want to consider hitting the transaction wire hard. See the old web site for details on what players made up your 2005 Best Lineup.
Most of the games were more or less over on Sunday. In a close game the Dream Team outlasted the Jelly Beans. Neither QB really showed up for either team. Larry Fitzgerald led the Beans in the losing effort. The Dream Team was led by Julius Jones. If the Beans play Williamson on Monday night instead of Burleson, well lets just say these notes might be even later than they already are. |
The Secane Tsunami and a 30 point lead were too much for the Black & Blue Attack to overcome. Unlike that first game the QBs in this game lit up the scoreboard like a pinball machine. McNabb and Warner each put up over 25 points. McNabb captured the week 1 MVP. The Black & Blue's best lineup would have won the game, but it would have required benching Alexander, not a possibility. The Quiet Storm, Tomlinson and a 7 point lead were too much for the Good Fellas, Jordan and Moss. Jeff Wilkins had monster points on the Fellas bench. Those points would have given the Fellas the victory instead of the Storm. Eli Manning led the Fellas in the loss. Westbrook led the Storm to victory. The Jail Birds and a 30 point lead were too much for the Body Shop and Brandon Lloyd. The Shop placed an official protest, claiming they have faced the helmet team in Week 1 of every year since they returned. The claim conspiracy of the "Fantasy Gods", and they wan to know why. All I have to say is "With their 3rd round pick, the body Shop selects the BEARS defense." That is what you get for snubbing your nose at the "Fantasy Gods". The Jail Birds nabbed their first helmet in their first time at the plate. Congratulations on your "W" in week 1. We'll be introducing you to your first "L" in week 2. Stallworth and the Ravens led the Jail Birds. Those BEARS led the Shop. The "Game of the Week" honors go to the contest between the M. Takers and the Black Revenge. The Revenge just barely held off Moss on Monday night. Actually they did not quite hold them off as Moss scored enough to tie the Revenge. The Revenge win by virtue of Coles 23 beating Barber's 17. By the way, the Revenge would have won by the bench point rule too. Both teams left a truckload of points on the bench. Hey guys, those points are doing you any good there.
