![]() Week 7 finds those standings getting more curious looking every week. This week we have 2 outliers, one at 4-2 and one at 2-4. The rest of the league is 3-4 or 4-3. Can't remember a year when everyone was so close before. Don't forget the web-exclusive "Weekly Previews" and "Free Agents List" when making those starting lineup changes or making that acquisition that puts you over the top. If you have an idea for something new, let me know and we'll see if I can add it. If you need me to mail the Notes, give me a call, I think we can avoid the postage, one way or another, if not I will mail you a copy of the notes. It is cheaper and also much quicker to go electronic. The league's url is http://swffl.50megs.com . Key Matchups to watch this Week The Jelly Beans take on the BYE-battered Black & Blue (say that 10 times fast). The Quiet Storm and Good Fellas meet in a contest between 4-3 teams. The Secane Tsunami will battle the Black Revenge in a contest between teams coming off losses. The M. Takers are pitted against the Dream Team in an old football central match-up. The Bull Dogs and Body Shop meet in a contest between highest scoring team and the current first place team. Norm was also 4/5 this week making him 16/30 (53%) on the season. He retains top billing and his lines appear above. Spock was 2/5 this week making him 13/30 (43%) on the season and his Locks are below: JB -5 BB(137) DT -8 MT(120)QS -4 GF(128) BD -8 BS(150) BR -14 DT(138) Three games were over on Sunday. One was more or less over. The final one was up in the air. The Black & Blue Attack, with C-Mart and a kicker still in their back pocket, managed to send the first place Body Shop home with a loss. The Attack was led by James and Driver, but got double-digit scoring out of every Sunday starter but their QB. A best lineup start by the Shop would have made Monday more exciting. The Shop was led by the EAGLES (betchya that statement hurt almost as much as the loss). C-Mart and Peterson weren't needed for the "W", but they did give the Attack their 1st helmet. The Quiet Storm, on the strength of a 20 point Priest "see I am still a fantasy god" Holmes performance, defeated the Black Revenge. The Revenge finished up with no one in double digits. The lackluster performance had the Revenge coaches cursing BYE weeks, inaccurate injury reports and the dreaded "sports hernia". With former partners facing each other, you know this one meant more than just a game in the standings. At 4-3 both teams are certainly very much in the mix. |
In another game pitting former partners against each other, the Good Fellas soundly defeated the Bull Dogs. The Fellas were led by Portis and Santana Moss as they beat up on the 49ERS. Portis finally found the goal line, an MVP of the week title and almost the Fellas first "Helmet" of the year. The Dogs wasted a "goal-post felling" performance by Jordan in the loss their vaunted wideouts were sidelined this week. The Dream Team and a 28 pt. lead were too much for the Secane Tsunami and Warrick Dunn on Monday Night. The Dream Team was led by T.O. and Josh Brown. One Dream Team coach was heard to say, "We don't necessarily agree with T.O.'s post-TD celebrations, but enjoy the points that come with them, even the lame ones like this week's waiter-'You've been served' thing.". The Tsunami was led by Favre who seems to be putting up the fantasy points like days gone by. Unfortunately for the Tsunami and PACKERS, the points did not produce a "W". The "Game of the Week" honors go to the contest between the Jelly Beans and M. Takers. The Beans and the FALCONS overcame a 9 point deficit on Monday night. The Beans were led by Larry Fitzgerald in this rather low scoring affair. The Beans could have enjoyed their Monday a bit more if they could have had some RB points produced at "The Linc" on Sunday, but something tells me the Beans Coaching staff would still be watching for "kicks and tricks" on Monday as if their very "survival" depended on it. The Takers were led by Elam (one of the few non-VIKING roster members). Culpepper finally looked normal again, in fact he looked relaxed. He looked almost like he just returned from a nice refreshing 'Cruise'. The VIKINGS are like the Irvin-years COWBOYS (without the Super bowl rings of course).
