SPOCK'S LOCKS FORMAT - Favorite w/Spread on top - Underdog w/Under-Over in parenthesis

Week 10 finds only one team at the top, there are 6 teams within 2 games, hoping for a big stumble. Don't forget the web-exclusive "Weekly Previews" and "Free Agents List" when making those starting lineup changes or making that acquisition that puts you over the top. If you have an idea for something new, let me know and we'll see if I can add it.

If you need me to mail the Notes, give me a call, I think we can avoid the postage, one way or another, if not I will mail you a copy of the notes. It is cheaper and also much quicker to go electronic. The league's url is http://swffl.50megs.com .

Key Matchups to watch this Week

The Jelly Beans will try to avenge their early season loss to the Goodfellas in a family affair. The Black Revenge will try to complete the season sweep of the Body shop in a battle 500 teams. The Secane Tsunami will try to avenge a 1 point loss to the Quiet Storm in week 2. The Dream Team will try to repeat their early season win against the Black & Blue, that way they can pull even with one of the Elite teams. The M. Takers will try to avenge their early season loss to the Bull Dogs in a battle of the highest and lowest scoring teams. The weird thing is their records are not as far apart as the point difference would indicate.

I blew it last week and did my estimates for Norm's picks on the wrong week. For that reason we are just going to throw week 10 out of the competition. Spock is 20/40 (50%) on the season. He retains top billing and his locks appear above. Norm is 21/40 (53%) on the season and his lines (my estimates) are below:

GF -1 JB (99)     DT -8 BR(110)
BR -2 BS (97)     MT -2 BD (96)
ST -3 QS (98)

Two games were over on Sunday. Two more were more or less over. The final game was up in the air (sort of).

The Good Fellas avenged their early season loss to the Black Revenge. The Fellas were led by Hines Ward. The Revenge sat a 31 on the bench in Roy Williams. The Revenge may have lost more than the game as McNabb did not look like he'd be playing again this year. Fortunately Hassleback is a very adequate backup. I wonder how McMahon or Detmer will fill in for the EAGLES.

The Quiet Storm completed the season sweep of the Dream Team. Vick and the BEARS led the Quiet Storm. The Dream Team failed to have any player reach double digits. Both of these teams have lost their first round picks. That might explain the relatively low score of the game. At 6-4 and 5-5 both teams are still very much in it.

The Secane Tsunami and an 18 point lead proved to be too much for the M. Takers and Reggie Brown. The win gave the Tsunami the season sweep. This was an odd gane in that both teams were led by their special teams. At 4-6 the Sharks still have a shot at a Elite Spot. At 2-8 and the low point total, the Takers chances are looking pretty slim.

The Black & Blue Attack and a 50 point lead were too much for the Bulldogs and Drew Bledsoe on Monday. The win gave the Black & Blue the season sweep of the Bull Dogs. The Black & Blue also scored their first helmet of the year. The Attack was led by Harrison, Collins, Driver and Kasay. Although the Bull Dogs did leave some points on the bench, even their best lineup would have came up short. The Dogs were led by Holt and Rackers the losing effort.

The "Game of the Week" honors go to the contest between the Body Shop and the Jelly Beans. The Beans, Westbrook and a 14 point lead were too much for the Shop, Witten and the EAGLES. In fact, the Monday players matched points and the Jelly Beans completed the season sweep of the Shop with a 14 point win. The Beans were led by Larry Fitzgerald and the defending champs are picking up right where they left off. Due to injury, bye weeks and/or poor performance, the Shop did not leave many points on the bench. At 5-5 the Shop is most certainly still in the mix. The Beans seem well on their way to complete only the second back-to-back championship run in SWFFL history. Now let me see if I can remember this correctly, wasn't there a perennial Bean QB who became the sentimental favorite to win the Championship. And after his sentimental championship, didn't this same QB go back and win another one. What was that QB's name again??
