![]() Well here we go again. Our 17th season is under way. I hope everyone enjoyed the draft. I'd like to thank Ron for hosting the draft once again. I failed to get a list of people who want Notes mailed to them. Give me a call, I think we can avoid the postage, one way or another, if not I will mail you a copy of the notes. It is cheaper and also much quicker to go electronic. The league's url is http://swffl.50megs.com . Key Matchups to watch this Week The Jelly Beans will take on the Good Fellas in a battle among the two previous Champs. The Beans are off to a good start of their title defense, the Fellas look to bounce back. The Black Revenge take on the Body Shop in a battle of veteran teams. The Shop is coming off a disappointing loss in Week 1, while the Revenge is looking to keep the momentum in their huddle. In a "Weather Channel" special, the Secane Tsunami meets the Quiet Storm. Both teams are off to good starts. The Black & Blue Attack take on the Dream Team. The Attack squeezed out a victory in week 1, while the Dream Team got crushed. The Bull Dogs take on the M. Takers in a battle of teams that had disappointing start. Norm will begin the defense of the Oddsmakers this week, as defending champ he gets top billing and his lines appear above. Spock's Locks for Week 2 are: JB -41 GF (147) BB -41 DT (125)BR -41 BS (147) MT -1 BD (89) QS -18 ST (108) I did that analysis based on last year's points, It is 19 out of the 44 in picking Elite Teams. As always, this analysis is based on last year's performance in points per game. If you are depending on a rookie or a comeback player then ignore these results. If you aren't necessarily relying on either of these type players and you're on the bottom of the list, you might want to consider hitting the transaction wire hard. See the web site for details on what players made up your 2004 Best Lineup.

All of the games were more or less over on Sunday. In a fairly low scoring affair, The Secane Tsunami defeated the M. Takers. Neither QB put up points. Also the M. Takers have to thank the reception rule for all of their points besides the PK and ST positions. The Jelly Beans, Westbrook, FALCONS and a 15 point lead were too much for the Body Shop and the EAGLES. The Beans were led by an MVP performance by Larry Fitzgerald (Expect WRs to dominate the MVP Slot in 05). The Shop put up 66 points and lost. That is one of those "Bad Luck" losses, at least you get some consolation out of the point total. Bulger and Parker led the Shop in the loss. By the way the Jelly Beans win the first season helmet which is a lot more important this season. The Black Revenge pretty much obliterated the Good Fellas before their QB even took the field on Monday. The Revenge was led by Mr. Moss and Cadillac Williams. Only Manning cleared double digits for the Fellas. The Quiet Storm led by Jimmy Smith and balanced scoring elsewhere defeated the Dream Team. The Dream Team's "Wide Receiver" theory may be falling to a cold dose of reality. You need points from other positions as well. Rarely will you win with a 0 from your QB and no TDs in your starting lineup. The "Game of the Week" honors go to the contest between the M. Takers and the Jelly Beans. The Black & Blue Attack defeated the Bull Dogs. The Black & Blue were led by Collins, Harrison and the COLTS defense. Interestingly, the Bulldogs made a last minute change to their lineup and removed Steve Smith from the starting lineup. That piece of over-analysis cost the Dogs a big week 1 "W".
