![]() Week 8 finds everything tightening up a bit more in the standings. Also, most of the games were very close as well. Check those BYE WEEKS when making up your lineup. I have added a Free Agent List to the web site (will not include transactions during the week). I have also changed the NFL NewsFeed to ESPN. If you would still like the Notes mailed to you let me know and I will start mailing them out to you. It is cheaper and also much quicker to go electronic. The league's url is http://swffl.50megs.com . Key Matchups to watch this Week The M. Takers take on the Body Shop in their only match up of the 2004. Both teams are at the bottom of the standings but they are on mini-rolls. The Bull Dogs and Jelly Beans meet in a battle of Elite Teams. Both teams are doing well and have a feeling that this year might be the year. The Quiet Storm and Dream Team meet with both teams still hanging in there. The Storm gets hit fairly hard with the BYE this week. The Black Revenge and Sharks meet in their only battle in 2004. So does the Pirate beat the Fish or vice-versa. Norm (my estimates) was 4/5 this week (actually they were 3 of 5 as I would never estimate that Norm would pick the Bull Dogs over the Good Fellas, especially when the Bull Dogs have a better record, but I made a typo so I will give him that one) and is 20/30 (57%) on the season. He retains top billing (my estimates). Spock was 3/5 this week and is 17/35 (49%) on the season. His locks are below: MT -7 BS(105) BB -10 GF(118)JB -1 BD(117) S -8 BR(114) QS -5 DT(117) Two games were over on Sunday. Another was pretty much over. The final 2 were still up in the air. The Sharks defeated the Quiet Storm making both teams 4-4. The Storm had a shot to win the game with Thomas Jones on Sunday night, but Jones injured his foot on his first carry of the game and never returned. The Storm got balanced scoring with TO and Ahman Green leading the way. The Sharks got the bulk of their points from week 8 MVP Peyton Manning. The Body Shop defeats the Jelly Beans for their 2nd 'W' of the year. The loss put a little setback in the Beans Championship drive, but they are still very much alive for their first title. The Shop was led by their PATRIOT Triple Ripple (or at least two thirds of it). The 'W' has kept the Shop hopes alive, for now. The Beans were led Tiki Barber, who seems to be the surprise of 2004, in the losing effort. Did Jake Plummer really throw for 499 yards. What happened to the running Broncos? |
The M. Takers and a 41 point lead were too much for the Black Revenge and Chad Pennington. The Takers were led by Priest Holmes who has returned to 'ALL-UNIVERSE' status that last couple of weeks. It also appears Vick is becoming startable again. The Revenge got big points from the STEELERS and Feely, but not enough at the other skill positions. The Bull Dogs and a 9 point lead were not enough to hold off the Good Fellas and Curtis Martin. The Bull Dogs were led by Sunday morning acquisition Drew Brees. The Defending Champion Good Fellas followed up their 'BYE' week start of Week 7 with a no lineup call in Week 9. Fortunately for the Fellas the only mistake was leaving Roy Williams in, when he was declared out early on Sunday. The Fellas were led by Alexander in the loosing effort and a fine effort by C-Mart on Monday to get them back in the "W" column The "Game of the Week" honors go to the contest between the Dream Team and the Black & Blue Attack. The Black & Blue and the JETS overcame a 6 point lead on Monday Night. The Attack was led by Wayne and Akers. Perhaps the largest contribution to the Attack 'W' came when I started Leftwich over Green, which is who Norm wanted. The 'L' keeps the Dream Team out of the Elite and gives the Black & Blue a more comfortable grip on first place. Even though the Dream Team lost, it does point out that this league is very competitive at this point and that any team can beat any other team on any given week.
