![]() Week 8 finds many of the Elite teams taking a fall this week. That can mean only one thing, a very good week for Norm the prognosticator. Hey, by the way, we finally had a trade happen again after the Bruce failures. There are still BYES, so check the schedule before calling/mailing in your line-up. If you would still like the Notes mailed to you let me know and I will start mailing them out to you. It is cheaper and also much quicker to go electronic. The league's url is http://swffl.50megs.com . Key Matchups to watch this Week The Black Revenge and M. Takers face off in a battle between Freddy veterans. The Takers are riding their "Purple" double bubble to high heights. The Revenge was heard to be muttering about the Scheduling Gods. The Sharks and Bull Dogs meet up in what is a midseason battle for the cellar. The winner keeps hope alive for another week. The Good Fellas and Quiet Storm meet up in a battle between the hottest team in the first half of the season and the current hottest team. The Black & Blue Attack wants to shake off the loss and get back in the battle by beating the Jelly Beans. The Beans are hanging around 500 and waiting to make their move, maybe their run for the helmet this week is the start of that move. The Body Shop takes on the Dream Team. The Shop is still in the mix for the Elite. The Dream Team has half their team off. Norm was 4/5 making him 17/35 (49%) on the season. He regains top billing (actually my guesses at his picks). Spock was 1/5 this week making him 15/35 (43%) on the season. His lines are below: MT -11 BR (99) BB -8 JB (98)S -1 BD (91) BS -6 DT(104) QS -1 GF(113) Two games were officially over on Sunday. One other was pretty much over. The last 2 were still up in the air. The Dream Team looked dead against the Quiet Storm going into Sunday Night. The Dream Team, Holmes and Green pulled it out on Sunday night. The Dream Team got close to 20 from Holmes. Green and the BUCS. The Storm got great games out of Hassleback and Davis in a losing effort. The uncharacteristic 0 from Portis may have been the difference. The Jelly Beans won the first installment of the Cedar Lane bowl against the Sharks. The Beans also almost scored a helmet as 4 guys hit double digits for them. The Sharks acquisition at QB came up small, but at least they tried. The Sharks get and "A" for effort, unfortunately the Sharks were looking for the "W" not an "L" or an "A" for that matter. |
The Good Fellas are officially on a roll as they rolled up and over the Black & Blue Attack. In fact they jumped up into the Elite and are leading the league in scoring. The Fellas got decent scoring across the lineup even though only one player broke double digits. Steve McNair finally broke the Attack lineup and proceeded to come up very small. The Takers and the "Purple" double-bubble managed to hold on to an 8-point lead against the Bull Dogs and David Boston. The Culpepper-Moss connection accounted for 36 of the Takers 45 points. Curtis Martin finally found some points as well. Hanson came up small in what is sure to be his only start this year. The Dogs were led once again by their ST's. The Dogs QB situation looked bad although some Monday night pickups may just remedy that. The "Game of the Week" honors go to the contest between the Body Shop and the Black Revenge. The Revenge had Tomlinson, MIAMI and an 8 pt. lead against the Shop. The Shop and Revenge traded INT's and FG's and then Tomlinson salted the win away for the Revenge. The Shop got 21 out of Manning, but the other half of the Colt Double Bubble was Wayne this week. Ward put up nice numbers as well. Garcia and Carney led the Revenge. The Revenge made a last minute change in their lineup, benching Buckhalter (who was a last minute insertion for Dillon) and acquiring and starting Santana Moss. Buckhalter scored first making the move look bad. Moss rallied back with a 9. Buckhalter scored again and added a yardage bonus on top. If Mare managed to pull this one out of the fire for the Shop, the Revenge would be kicking themselves for that change, regardless of what the Revenge management claims. One way of foiling the "Scheduling Gods", is to score the helmet yourselves. CHATTERBOX:(Get Quotes in by Monday Night)
