In week 16, two of the Elite Teams won. They (the Quiet Storm and Good Fellas) are now the only teams capable of winning the 2003 Title. The other 2 have been leap-frogged by a team that was out if the Elite, giving us our first new tenant in the Elite since week 8. There are Saturday games, so get those early starters in. Also, Happy Holidays to all from the Commissioner's Office.

If you would still like the Notes mailed to you let me know and I will start mailing them out to you. It is cheaper and also much quicker to go electronic. The league's url is http://swffl.50megs.com .

Key Matchups to watch this Week

The Black Revenge will try to complete the season sweep of the Body Shop. This contest pretty much shapes up to be a contest for a Elite spot (although theoretically both teams can still make it), the winner is definitely in. The Quiet Storm will try to avenge their early season loss to the Dream Team. The Storm needs a win and some help to capture the title (or they need to score a shipload of points). The Good Fellas will try to complete the season sweep of the Black & Blue. The Fella's still remain in the driver's seat for the Title. The Attack, could wiggle its way into the Elite, with a Taker loss. The Jelly Beans would like to sweep both ends of the Cedar Lane Bowl against the Sharks. This game is about pride, though the Sharks want to stay out of the basement as well. The M. Takers will try to complete the season sweep of the Bull Dogs. The Takers win and they keep their Elite spot, they can still make the Elite with a loss, but it is a lot harder road. The Dogs want to climb out of that basement slot.

Spock was 4/5 this week making him 38/75 (51%) on the season. He regains top billing. Norm was 2/5 making him 36/75 (48%) on the season. His lines (my guesses) are below:

BR -1 BS (99)     JB -2  S(94)
DT -5 QS(110)     MT -5 BD(91)
GF -3 BB (97)

Three games were officially over Sunday. The other two were still up in the air.

The Black Revenge avenged their mid-season loss to the Sharks. The Revenge also jumped up into the Elite on the strength of their win and Shop and Taker losses. The Revenge was led by the DOLPHINS and Garcia, who was a last second replacement for Maddox. Maddox scored one more point as the Revenge continues to spin the QB wheel the wrong way. The Sharks better players came up small.

The Bull Dogs avenged their mid-season loss to the Body Shop and knocked the Shop out of the Elite. The Dogs were led by an early 21 out of the PATS special Teams. The Dogs then piled on and beat the Shop. Even Sunday night when things might turn around for the Shop, it still went the Dogs way as Plummer rubbed it in. The Shop barely managed to surpass that initial 21 points, as the Double-Bubble this week was a double-zero. The Shop needs a big week next week to get back in the Elite.

The Black & Blue Attack completed the season sweep of the Dream Team. The Attack was led by that guy Lewis again (who put up 42 points). Barlow and Cundiff did well also. The Dream Team was led by Holmes and McCardell in the losing effort. The Attack can climb back in the Elite with some help.

In a game with Title implications, The M. Takers and Quiet Storm went into Monday Night with the Storm up by 3 points. The Takers and Janikowski could not manage to overcome athe initial 3 point lead. It also did not help that Javon Walker became for one night the second coming of Sterling Sharpe. Favre was connecting on bombs with Walker left and right and down the middle. With the "W" the Storm kept their Title Hopes alive. The Takers Title dreams are dead and their Elite hopes are not assured either.

The "Game of the Week" honors go to the contest between the Jelly Beans and the Good Fellas. The Jelly Beans looked very good going into Monday night with a large lead, PACKERS and Rice against the Good Fellas, Favre, Green and Longwell. For a while, it was not even a sure thing that Favre would be playing due to the loss of his father on Sunday. Favre played and basically had a career game (which is saying something when you consider his career). The Good Fellas surpassed the Jelly Beans and kept hold of that first position in the standings. The Championship will be decided in week 17.
