![]() In week 15, two more teams were eliminated form Elite positions. I am not very happy, as my team was one of them. It is of little comfort that I have one of the highest scoring teams. All right that is the end of my rant & rave. There are 3 games on Saturday this week, so check your schedule and get your early starters in before the first kickoff on Saturday. If you would still like the Notes mailed to you let me know and I will start mailing them out to you. It is cheaper and also much quicker to go electronic. The league's url is http://swffl.50megs.com . Key Matchups to watch this Week The Black Revenge will try to avenge their early season 2 point loss to The Sharks. The Revenge needs to keep winning and needs some help to get above that Elite Line. The Sharks are happy to be free of that basement slot. The Body Shop will try to complete the season sweep of the Bull Dogs. The Shop picked a big "W" this week and has to balance their chances to keep a championship alive with staying above the Elite Line, for instance who was the Shop pulling for Week 15's contest between the Good Fellas and the Revenge? The Black & Blue will try to complete the sweep of the Dream Team. This game matches up the teams involved in the only trade of the year. Since the trade the Black & Blue's fortunes have gone south including a 6 game losing skid directly after the trade. The Dream Team has waffled back and forth and mainly has been just good enough to remain out of the basement. The Good Fellas will try to complete the season sweep of the Jelly Beans and maintain that stranglehold on that top spot. The Beans are technically still alive for the Elite, but it would require a miracle. The M. Takers will try to complete the season sweep of the Quiet Storm and maybe rise above that 3rd slot. They too have to balance their chances to rise vs. their chances of being ousted. The Storm needs the "W" and some help from the Beans this week to get the top spot going into week 17. Norm (my guesses) was 2/5 making him 34/70 (49%) on the season. He retains top billing. Spock was 2/5 this week making him 34/70 (49%) on the season. His locks are below: BR -11 S(107) GF -9 JB(107)BS -10 BD (92) QS -4 MT(106) BB -1 DT(111) Three games were officially over Sunday. One was more or less over. The other was still up in the air. The Jelly Beans completed the season sweep of the Bull Dogs, even though McNabb had yet to play. The Beans got points out of everybody in their starting lineup, though Feely came up rather small. The Beans still have a shot at the Elite, but they would need a miracle for that to happen. The Dogs got a nice game out of Wilkins and Faulk chipped in a nickel in the losing effort. The Dogs could conceivably climb out of the basement before the years end. |
The Body Shop avenged their early season loss to the Quiet Storm and held on to that last Elite Spot. The Storm missed an opportunity to take control after the youngsters faltered. The Shop was led by the "COLT" double bubble that put up 51 points. It is going to be interesting to see if the "prime" double-bubble approach is copied next year by the 9/10 teams. The Dream Team completed the season sweep of the Sharks as the Dreamer's CHIEF connection clicked for 55 points. The Sharks were matching the Dreamers score for score, but Hall and Steve Smith broke down and left the Sharks on the short end. Kitna, Owens and Gozo led the Sharks in the losing effort. The Black & Blue Attack completed the season sweep of the M. Takers. In this match-up of former partners, the Takers Purple "Bubble" only managed 15 points. The Takers are just plain not going to win Dante and Randy go that cold. The Black & Blue Attack were led by Bulger and Barlow, interestingly 2 guys who were backups at the start of the season and have performed fairly well in replacing their own personal Wally Pip's. The "Game of the Week" honors go to the contest between the Black Revenge and the Good Fellas. The Revenge got some revenge for their early season loss to the young guns. The Revenge was led by L.T. part deux, in this game that featured 0 QB points. Although there were plenty of QB points sitting on those benches. I can see benching Favre for Vick (although it didn't work out). I guess the Revenge thought Maddox would do better in the snow than Garcia. In Maddox's defense - he had a lot more snow to deal with, than Garcia did. For instance, Garcia could see things like the hashmarks, and yardage lines and his wide receivers. I think Maddox had trouble seeing any of the above. CHATTERBOX:(Get Quotes in by Monday Night)
