Well here we go again. Our 15th season is under way. I hope everyone enjoyed the draft. I'd like to thank Ron for hosting the draft once again. I failed to get a list of people who want Notes mailed to them. Give me a call, I think we can avoid the postage, one way or another, if not I will mail you a copy of the notes. It is cheaper and also much quicker to go electronic. The league's url is http://swffl.50megs.com .

Key Matchups to watch this Week

The Black Revenge and Quiet Storm square off in a contest between former partners. The Storm is fresh off a victory over the defending Champs. The Revenge won a nail-biter on Monday night. The Bull Dogs will try to kick the defending champs when they are down and get over what happened on Monday. The Black & Blue are just hoping they don't face another helmet. The Dream Team and Good Fellas will face each other in a family dispute. Dad needs to find the "W" column. The Fellas always get up for a shot at beating Dad. The Body Shop and the Jelly Beans will meet in week 2. The Beans hope to continue their winning ways, the Shop hopes to break double-digits this week. In the final match-up, the Money Takers will try to keep their record spotless against the Sharks who lost a squeaker in week 1.

Spock will begin the defense of the Oddsmakers this week, as defending champ he gets top billing and his lines appear above. Norm's Lines for Week 2 are:

BR -2 QS (98)     JB -1 BS (93)
BB -6 BD (84)      S -4 MT (86)
DT -8 GF (92)

I did that analysis based on last year's points, last year it picked no Money teams. In the prior 9 years it picked 18 out of the 36 Elite Teams. As always, this analysis is based on last year's performance in points per game. If you are depending on a rookie or a comeback player then ignore these results. If you aren't necessarily relying on either of these type players and you're on the bottom of the list, you might want to consider hitting the transaction wire hard. See the web site for details on what players made up your 2002 Best Lineup.

There were 2 games that were technically over by Sunday night. One game was more or less over. Two games were still in doubt.

The scheduling gods were not nice to the defending Champs as the Black & Blue put up 50+ points but lost to the Quiet Storm who grabbed the first helmet of the year (as they did last year). The Storm got balanced scoring with all but 1 WR putting up points. The Black & Blue were hoping for a bit more out of their QB.

The M. Takers put a big whipping on the Body Shop, as the Double-Bubble agreement definitely went purple this week. Culpepper and Moss outscored the Manning-Harrison duo to the tune of 33-0. This game featured 5 goose-eggs at the all important RB spot, and it really does not look good for the future for either team at that position.

The Bulldogs and the EAGLES could not overcome a 3-pt lead against the Black Revenge. Garica led the Revenge to an early lead. Garner brought the Dogs back from the brink of defeat on Sunday night. Monday the Birds came up short for the Dogs.

The Sharks and Gramatica could not overcame a 7 point lead on Monday night and ceded the "W" to the youngsters. The Fellas sat a 21 out of Chambers, but it would have taken guts to move him in the lineup. The Sharks combo of Gannon, Henry and Gramatica was just enough to get the job done. The Fellas can chalk this victory up to the new Defensive scoring system.

The "Game of the Week" honors go to the contest between the Dream Team and the Jelly Beans. The Jelly Beans, McNabb and a 20 point lead were just barely too much for the Dream Team, Akers and the BUCs to overcome. The Beans strategy of playing Bruce nad Holt definitely payed off as they RAMS WRs combine to outscore Warner. The Dream Team squandered an MVP performance by Holmes. BTW, if that Safety at the end remained a safety - the incredible comeback would be complete.

CHATTERBOX:(Get Quotes in by Monday Night)
Dream Team (Norm): "That was a safety. McNabb can't even do that right."
Black Revenge (Toast): "The EAGLES defense puts up goose-eggs just like their offense."
