![]() Week 5 finds only 1 team still avoiding that first 'L' of the year and every team has at least 1 in the 'W' column. The line between the haves and have-nots is becoming clearly defined and widening every week. This week 4 teams scored over 70, and only 3 of them won. There are some teams off this week, so make sure you check. If you can live with the web version or if you want to try and receive these notes by e-mail, let me know. It is cheaper and also much quicker. The league's url is http://swffl.50megs.com . Key Matchups to watch this Week The Dream Team & Norm try it against an older relative (& son) after getting spanked by the youngsters. The Beans are hit hard by the bye this week, so they will be handicapped. The Good Fellas will try to notch their 2nd 'W' against the M. Takers. The Takers are smack in the middle of that have/have-not line, and they definitely one to move in the have area. The Sharks will try to knock off the undefeated Body Shop. The Shop is just sitting back and enjoying this little venture back into the action. The Bull Dogs and Black & Blue Attack meet up in a battle of two Elite Teams. This game features 2 fine running games and the QB's are not that bad either. The Quiet Storm will try get back on the winning track against the Black Revenge in a battle of former partners. Should be an interesting matchup with definite Elite Line implications. Spock was 3/5 this week, making him 15/20(75%) on the season. He retains top billing. Norm was 2/5 on the week, making him 4/20 (20%) on the season. His lines (actaully my estimates) appear below: DT -5 JB(101) BB -3 BD (91)GF -2 MT (96) BR -4 QS (97) S -4 BS (92) There was 1 game that was technically over by Sunday. Two other games were more or less over. Two other were still very much up in the air. The Good Fellas finally go a 'W', taking out a year full of frustration on the Dad and his Dream Team and putting up over 80 points. The Fellas like the RAMS, were probably relieved to have Warner out. Unlike the RAMS converted that relief into a big 'W'. Charlie Garner led the Fellas and they finally got double-digit production out of the QB position. The Dream Team got little production out of anyone but Manning. |
The M. Takers defeated the Jelly Beans as the PACKERS were unable to make up an 8 pt. defecit on Monday night. The M. Takers only got points out of their WR's and PK, as Vick was knocked out early. McNabb led the Beans and made it interesting in the end, but much like with the EAGLES, he came up a touch short in the end. The Body Shop remained undefeated as Ahman Green and a 57 point lead were too much for the Bull Dogs, Favre, Booker and the Bears to overcome. The Shop was led by a big performance by McAllister and another excellent performance by Bledsoe. The change of scenery seems to have done Drew a great deal of good. The Dogs were out of it before their guns hit the field. The Revenge is still lurking around the Elite Line as Longwell and the A-Train easily overcame a 2 point deficit to the Sharks. The Sharks wouldn't have had a shot if Stephen Davis hadn't returned from injury to notch 2 scores. Trent Green and Portis kept the Revenge close so Longwell could come in and close it out. The "Game of the Week" honors go to the contest between Black & Blue Attack and the Quiet Storm. This was a regular old shootout as the defenses seemed to be missing. The Storm, led by 56 RB points from Dillon and Holmes, put up a big 90 points. Most weeks that gives you a nice restful Monday night. Thanks in large part to Gannon (wasn't he supposed to be a non-factor without Gruden), the Storm was forced to tune in to Monday night with more on their minds than a nice leisurely night of watching Football. Driver at least ended the Storm's agony quick with a 12 point TD and a yardage bonus almost all on one play. The question switched from "Would the Black & Blue hand the Quiet Storm their first 'L'?" to "Would the Black & Blue clear triple-digits for the second straight week?".
