![]() Well it is only week 2 and some disturbing trends are occurring. First, the Body Shop has returned as a last minutes substitution and was only 1 point from winning two straight helmets. Also 'your favorite' defending champion, is 0-2 after losing twice by single digit margins. OK - that second thing is probably only disturbing to my partner and me. There are some teams off this week, so make sure you check. If you can live with the web version or if you want to try and receive these notes by e-mail, let me know. It is cheaper and also much quicker. The league's url is http://swffl.50megs.com . Key Matchups to watch this Week The Black Revenge and Jelly Beans will meet up in a contest of 1-1 teams. The Beans and Marshall are the only ones not suffering from the RAM brown-out. Moss has been pretty consistent this year for the Revenge. The Black & Blue Attack are going for the Staley trifecta, beating Dad in Week 2 and facing the youngsters this week. The Fellas have brought into the RAMS large and this year that seems to be a bad move so far. The Body Shop takes on the M. Takers in a matchup of Freddy Flinstone Teams. The Shop is flying high and the Takers are fresh off a disappointing loss in this battle of grizzled veteran teams. The Bull Dogs will try and doggy-paddle through the Sharks and recover from the shocking loss on Monday night. The Sharks are getting the feeding frenzy going early, as there is a whole world of difference between 2-1 and 1-2. The Quiet Storm and Dream Team go to battle in a matchup of teams who have held the trophy 5 out of the last 8 years. The Storm is undefeated. The Dream Teams needs a 'W' desperately. Norm was 2/5 and he retains top billing. Spock was also 2/5 and his locks appear below: BR -2 JB(100) BD -6 S (90)BB -14 GF (70) QS -20 BD (88) BS -13 MT(107) There were 3 games that were technically over by Sunday night. The other two looked like they were decided but Monday Night Madness struck again!! The Black Revenge scored their first 'W' of the year against the Good Fellas. The Fellas had a coaching efficiency of 20%. That may be a record low as their best lineup scores 100. Unfortunately for them the lineup they chose scored 20. The RAM triple-ripple is starting to look dubious. The Revenge has been living off of Brooks, Moss and Longwell (with a touch of A-Train). They need to get the rest of the team going. |
The Black & Blue Attack notched its first 'W' at the expense of the Dream Team. The Attack was led by Fred Taylor who always manages to break off one of those 60 yard TD's before his "Candy-Bone Disease" sets in. Unfortunately for me - he did it this week. The Attack also made a last minute sup of McNair for Gannon. McNair against the Cowpokes, Gannon against the Steel Curtain, sounds good on paper. The Dream Team got nice numbers out of Manning last week but need a ST score on Monday to give them a win. This week they get 2 ST scores, but Manning disappoints. We all know 0-2 is bad, but not insurmountable. The Sharks notched their first 'W' of 2002 against the M. Takers. The Sharks were led by Garcia and Harrison. The Takers seem to be Culpepper, Owens, Elam and pray for rain. Of course those 44 WR points on the bench attached to Conway and Price would have bee nice. The wishbone is only effective if you have RBs that actually score once in a while. Would not be surprised to see the Takers make an about-face on that set. The Body Shop kept their undefeated status intact, as Gardner and a 53 pt. lead were just barely too much for the Beans, McNabb and Akers to overcome. The Shop was led by a monster game by Bledsoe, and McAllister was none too shabby either. McNabb and Akers had them sweating in the 'Shop' headquarters, but in the end they came up just a tad short. The "Game of the Week" honors go to the contest between the Bull Dogs and the Quiet Storm. The Bull Dogs and the Redskin double-bubble could not overcame a 1 point deficit on Monday Night and the Storm wins the second straight "GOW" that was decided by 1 point on Monday night to remain undefeated. The Bull Dogs running and kicking game kept it close, but the passing game let them down on Monday night. The Storm was led by Griese and Gramtica, but Holmes disappeared this week.
