![]() Week 13 finds the Black & Blue Attack with a firm grip on the Title. The final Elite Spot is still pretty much up for grabs. The Dream Team is out of it, which makes typing these notes difficult, even on weeks when we have a decent chance to win. If you can live with the web version or if you want to try and receive these notes by e-mail, let me know. It is cheaper and also much quicker. The league's url is http://swffl.50megs.com . Key Matchups to watch this Week The Jelly Beans will try to avenge their week 5 one-point loss to the M. Takers. The Beans are just playing for pride at this point. The Takers are trying to hold on to that last Elite spot. The Dream Team and Good Fellas meet in a battle for the basement. These are not happy days in the Staley household. The Body Shop will try to complete the sweep of the Bull Dogs and hope the Black & Blue trip up at least once somewhere along the way. The Dogs are playing spoilers with only a minor chance at that last Elite spot. The Black Revenge will try to complete the season sweep of the Sharks. This game may well decide who remains in contention for that last Elite spot and who is out. The Black & Blue Attack will try to complete the season sweep of the Quiet Storm. A few weeks ago this game looked huge, but its impact potential has seemed to wane. Spock was 2/5 this week, making him 38/60 (63%) on the season and he retains top billing. Norm was 2/5 on the week, making him 22/60 (37%) on the season. His lines (actually my estimates of his lines) appear below: JB -1 MT (97) S -6 BR (96)DT -6 GF(104) QS -4 BB (98) BS -3 BD (93) There was 1 game that was technically over by Sunday. Another two were all but over. Two others were most definitely up in the air on Monday. The Black & Blue Attack completed the season sweep of the Jelly Beans. 54 points out of their running game gave them a big enough lead where they did not even need Gannon to show up on Monday. The Beans got on of their wounded cogs back this week but Marshall still looked like he needed some more time off. Brunell had filled in OK, but he was never meant to be any more than a bye week plug in and not an every week starter. The Black and Blue with a 2 game lead and a points advantage look to have everything locked up, but truth is they have not yet even clinched a Elite Spot (one more win will do that). |
The Body Shop kept it's ever faltering title hopes alive as they completed the season sweep of the Good Fellas. The Shop put up some impressive Thanksgiving day numbers and then topped it off on Sunday with the Patriots double-bubble. The Fellas were back to getting a goose egg out of Warner which is how this horrible year started. The Fellas had a truck full of players on Monday, but the game was already decided before they even hit the field. The M. Takers avenged their early season loss to the Quiet Storm and jumped back over the Elite Line. The Storm's Title hopes are all but gone and now they even have to start worrying about the teams below them. The Takers were paced by an incredible 48-point day by Vick. Vick got some help from Price, Finneran and Elam as the Takers cleared triple digits. The Storm only got a 16 out of Holmes (sub-par for him) and a bad day from Beurlein in the losing effort. The Dream Team completed the season sweep of the Sharks (I can't believe we swept anyone) as Rice could not overcome a 16-point lead on Monday night. The Dream Team was led by Travis Henry, who is clearly the Dream Team's MVP. The Sharks had a disappointing day from Garcia and Co., although Alstott made it interesting Sunday night. The Sharks needed the 'W' to help them get that last Elite Spot. The Dream Team needed the 'W' to escape the basement. The "Game of the Week" honors go to the contest between the Bull Dogs and Black Revenge. The Dogs won a real shoot-out and completed the sweep of the Revenge as Janikowski easily overcame a 3-point lead on Monday night. Both teams had a stellar performance by a RB. The Dogs Ricky Williams put up a 47(lost weekly MVP to Vick by 1 point) and Portis put up a 31 for the Revenge. The Revenge actually looked like they were in the driver's seat until McCardell put up a 12 on Sunday night. That made the 'W' a chip shot for Janikowski. CHATTERBOX:(Get Quotes in by Monday Night)
