SPOCK'S LOCKS FORMAT - Favorite w/Spread on top - Underdog w/Under-Over in parenthesis

Week 13 finds these notes coming to you very late. Not early enough to warn people about Thanksgiving games and certainly not early enough to rescue the Dream Team's season. The loss this week - which has all but eliminated the Dream Team, compounded by a survivor ouster and a rough Monday night loss in another league, really killed any inclination to type these things. If you can live with the web version or if you want to try and receive these notes by e-mail, let me know. It is cheaper and also much quicker. The league's url is http://swffl.50megs.com .

Key Matchups to watch this Week

The Jelly Beans will try to avenge their week 4 slaughtering by the Black & Blue. The Beans are trying to limp through the rest of the season. In week 4 the Attack set the single game scoring record and this week they will try to put a stranglehold on the trophy. The Body Shop will have to complete the season sweep of the Good Fellas to keep any hope for a title alive. The Fellas at this point can only hope they stay out of the basement. The Black Revenge hopes to keep its tenuous hold on the final Elite spot by avenging their week 4 loss to the Bull Dogs. The Dogs are all but out of it and almost need a miracle to finish above the Elite line. The Dream Team will try to complete the sweep of the Sharks, although they are only playing for pride now. The Sharks are still very much in a battle for that last Elite slot. The Quiet Storm also needs to complete the sweep of the M. Takers to keep their title hopes alive. The Takers are also still alive for a Elite spot. Should be a good battle between teams with a reason to show up.

Spock was 4/5 this week, making him 36/55 (64%) on the season and he retains top billing. Norm was 1/5 on the week, making him 20/55 (36%) on the season. His lines (actually my estimates of his lines) appear below:

JB -2 BB (96)     DT -6  S(110)
GF -3 BS (95)     MT -1 QS (97)
BR -4 BD (92)

There was 1 game that was technically over by Sunday. Another two were all but over. Two others were most definitely up in the air on Monday.

The Sharks carried a 10-point lead into Monday night with Garcia to spare as they avenged their week 3 loss to the Bull Dogs. Rice and Stephen Davis led the Sharks. Ricky Williams led the Bull Dogs in the losing effort. The Dogs had ample bench points that went unused as well. Just wondering, am I the only one that wonders about the Booker no-start.

The Black & Blue Attack completed the season sweep of the Good Fellas and all but locked up the title as the Fellas went into Monday night down by 8 with a kicker. The only problem was that the kicker was benched and a new kicker for the Niners was signed last week. Despite the PK gaff, the youngsters gave the Attack all they could handle with fine performances by Brady, Garner, C-Mart and Ward. The Black and Blue needed 20+ point performances out of Gannon and Alexander to win the game and dare I say win the title.

The Quiet Storm tried to climb back in the Title race by completing the sweep of the Dream Team. Priest Holmes scored 27 in week 3 against the Dream Team, this week he scored 42. I think Holmes gets the Dream Team vote for MVP. Unfortunately for the Storm the Black & Blue squeezed out the 'W' and made that trophy that much harder to get at.

The Black Revenge completed the season sweep of the Jelly Beans and kept hold of that last Elite Spot as the EAGLES and a 14 point lead were too much for Streets, Pinkston and Akers. This game should be considered a co-GOW with all the Monday night madness, but the next game edged it out.

The "Game of the Week" honors go to the contest between the M. Takers and the Body Shop. The Takers avenged their week 3 loss to the Shop as Owens overcame a 17 point lead on Monday night. This was a low scoring affair, but it involved the 2nd place team and a team vying for that last Elite spot. Also a 17 point turnaround by a single receiver is impressive. The loss may have ended the Shop's come out of retirement Title run. It now appears that a miracle will be required for the Shop or the Storm to oust the Black & Blue Attack.
