NORM'S LINES FORMAT - Favorite w/Spread on top - Underdog w/Under-Over in parenthesis

Week 7 finds no winless teams and no undefeated teams in the standings. Seems like every year some teams jump out fast and some slow and then about this time the pack starts coming back together. There is another Thursday night game this week. For those of you depending on snail-mail, I am sorry about the delays the last couple of weeks. I will try to get them out faster than I have been.

In case you lost it, the league's url is http://swffl.50megs.com, drop by, take a look at the archive. These notes are also available via e-mail if you have an e-mail account. The E-Mail notes get out sooner, get delivered faster and you avoid the dreaded stamp fee.

Key Match-Ups to Watch this Week.
The M. Takers and Sharks will square off in a battle of .500 teams that are on the verge of crossing into the promise land. The Jelly Beans are at the bottom of the pack and if that isn't bad enough, they draw the red hot Hammer Heads this week. The Heads are fresh off giving the first place team their first loss and their second straight helmet. The Dream Team will take on the Black & Blue Attack in a battle between the first and second place teams. Both teams are coming off big-time losses. The Quiet Storm and Black Revenge will meet again in a battle between former partners. Both teams are in the Money and the winner will go a long way to ensuring a good season for their team. The Good Fellas and Bull Dogs contest also features former partners (wow the SWFFL is just full of inbreeding). The Dogs have won 2 of their last 3 and are climbing up from the bottom. The Fellas have lost 3 in a row after a 3-0 start.

Norm was 3/5 this week making him 11/20 (55%) on the season and he gains top billing. Spock was 0/5 this week making him 6/20 (30%) on the year and his locks appear below:

MT  -8  S (88)    BR  -2 QS (90)
HH -10 JB (88)    GF  -5 BD (98)
DT  -4 BB(116)

There were 3 games that were over by Sunday night. One was more or less over. The other was still in doubt.

The M. Takers pulled out the victory over their old rival the Black Revenge, with Pinkston in their back pocket on Monday night. The Bye week havoc caught both of these teams hard and produced a relatively low scoring affair. The Takers lost Faulk due to injury but had Canidate as an insurance policy and he came through with an MVP performance. The backup QBs combined for 6 points in this game.

The red-hot Hammer Heads (to the most of the league's liking I'm sure) put a big time whipping on the formerly undefeated Dream Team. I expected a decent day out of Culpepper, but when the Bus starts throwing 9 point TDs, you just know it I not going to be a good day if your going against him. Throw in nice games by Morton and Biakabatuka and you get the Heads 2nd straight helmet. The Dream Team has now scored less than 40 for the 2nd straight week. Maybe the chinks in the armor are starting to show. Maybe the armor was no more than an illusion to begin with, only time will tell.

The Bull Dogs handed the Jelly Beans their 5th defeat. The Dogs with their 2nd win in 3 weeks are only a game out of the Elite. Of course the 37 points combined total of this game has to give both owners cause for concern. The Beans are now looking at along road to hoe from 1-5. I do not expect to see Randy Moss sporting the Jelly Bean colors after this year.

The Quiet Storm and a 38 point lead were too much for the Black and Blue Attack and Staley to overcome on Monday night. The Storm was led by Pittman and Nedney. The Storm has now scored 60-plus in the last two weeks and are trying to shake the low-scoring defensive battle plan. The Black and Blue missed a perfect opportunity to make up ground on the Dream Team.

The "Game of the Week" honors go to the contest between the Good Fellas and the Sharks. The Good Fellas, McNabb, Akers and Mitchell could not overcome a 13 point lead by the Sharks and Toomer on Monday night. Despite the "W" the Sharks have been hindered by what looked like a strong running game out of the Draft. Taylor goes down (what he does best besides scoring points) and Stephen Davis has disappeared. Favre is keeping the Sharks alive, but he needs some help form those top picks. The Fellas are on a 3 game skid and may be in trouble.

CHATTERBOX:(Get Quotes in by Monday Night)
Dream Team (Norm):
"Rams 6-0, Dream Team 5-1. P.S.: It's only an onside kick. Football is a man's game. Only women would complain about the onside kick."
