![]() Well another season has come to an end. I hope everyone enjoyed it, even if your team disappointed. We will be having our post-season party at Norm's for the Superbowl. Please not the change in time and location. Congratulations to all the Elite Teams and good luck next year to all the other teams. Also, if anybody has any ideas about additions to the Website let me know, maybe I can add some things in the off-season. In case you lost it, the league's url is http://swffl.50megs.com, drop by, take a look at the archive. You can see every box score and standings from every year but the first. There is also a table detailing every team's success through out the years. Just click on history on the football on the front page. That little post draft analysis I did proved to be fairly accurate. It picked 3 of the elite teams. It has now picked 18 of 32 elite teams over 8 years. That is only a bit better than 50% but I doubt most people could leave the draft and pick the elite teams any better. After all you do have injury problems and also rookies who have surprising years. If it were that easy, somebody would win the championship every year. Because I have some space I will give out some fantasy awards. 2001 MVP: Marshall Faulk. Bust of the year: Fred Taylor. Non-injury Bust of the year: Eddie George. Surprise of the Year: Priest Holmes (strong second by Tom Brady). Most disappointing NFL Team (from a fantasy perspective): VIKINGS. Most dominate NFL Team: RAMS (boy it hurt to type that). The Man is an Island: David Boston. Norm was 4/5 this week and is 41/75 (55%) on the year. Spock was 2/5 this week and is 39/75 (49%) on the season. Norm wins the competition. There seems to be a high correlation between Norm's success in this competition and the Dream team's success. There were 3 games where the outcome was decides on Sunday. There was one game that was more or less decided. There was one game that was still up in the air. The Dream Team completed the sweep of the Good Fellas won the "Golden Helmet" to place next to the their Championship. Fourteen wins in a season is the most recorded since I have been Commissioner. I think that first Black Assassin team had a good record but I don't remember what it was. Mason and Warner led the Dream Team. The Good Fellas got nice performances out of Collins and Thomas in the losing effort. |
The Black Revenge completed the season sweep of the Bull Dogs. The Revenge was led by 20+ point games out of Alexander and Owens. The Bull Dogs failed to call in a lineup, so they wound up with Doug Flutie tossing back brewskies in front of his TV instead of tossing TDs. I know it is hard to stay in the game when you are locked in the basement, but the last Week is one week where everyone should be interested and not just for the consolation prizes, although they should be enough. If I was in contention with the Revenge for a Elite spot, I would be angry that he was going up against a team without a QB or PK. The Black and Blue Attack, Bennett and a 30 point lead were too much for the Hammer Heads and Carter to overcome. The Black and Blue avenged their early season loss and finished up in 5th, so close yet so far. The Attack was led by Owens and Manning. The Attack running game cost it a Elite spot as they finished with the 3rd best QB, 2 top 5 WR's and a top 5 PK. The Jelly Beans completed the Season sweep of the M. Takers as Moss, Taylor and Stover overcame the Takers, VIKINGS and an 8 pt. lead. It was very hard not to give this "GOW" honors, but basically these 2 teams were locked in 2nd and third and really could not move. Kind of like the EAGLES-BUCS game. The Beans were led by the 1-2 punch of Green and Holmes. For the Takers, Garcia put up good numbers but Faulk only had an 11. That is how good Faulk is - an 11 point game is disappointing. The "Game of the Week" honors go to the contest between the Sharks and the Quiet Storm. This game had all the makings of an extraordinary game with the final Elite spot on the line. Unfortunately only one team showed up. The Sharks completed the season sweep and secured the final Elite spot. The Sharks were led by Favre and Vandy. The Storm did not manage to break double digits.
