![]() Week 16 finds the tops spots getting all locked up. The final 2 Elite spots are fairly wide open. There is a game Saturday, so check out that schedule before making plans to call in your lineup on Sunday. Since this will really be my last, opportunity before the holidays, I would like to wish everyone a Safe and Happy Holiday. In case you lost it, the league's url is http://swffl.50megs.com, drop by, take a look at the archive. These notes are also available via e-mail if you have an e-mail account. The E-Mail notes get out sooner, get delivered faster and you avoid the dreaded stamp fee. Key Match-Ups to Watch this Week. Spock was 4/5 this week and is 31/65 (48%) on the year, he retains top billing. Norm was 3/5 this week and is 34/65 (52%) on the season, my estimates of his lines appear below: S -2 MT (92) QS -3 BR (91) No Monday game, so I guess Sunday Night Madness was the order of the day. The M. Takers kept their Championship hopes just barely alive with a sweep of the Black Revenge. This game looked real interesting until Faulk broke off a 70 yarder and took all the fun out of this one. The bad news is the Takers need a collapse by the Dream Team and perfection to take home the trophy. The good news id would take a collapse by them and near perfection by the Beans to unseat them from 2nd. Their point total makes a drop to 4th almost impossible. The Revenge once again was the 2ndhighest scoring team which just happened to face the helmet team. Toast your fantasy year last year must have angered the Fantasy Football Gods beyond belief. |
The Sharks easily completed the sweep of the Good Fellas. The Good Fellas players seem to have packed it in, or maybe they are saving it for the big week 17 consolation prizes. The Sharks were led by Favre and Alstott are back in the Elite. The Dream Team reduced their magic number to 1 by avenge their early season loss to the Hammer Heads. It was not a pretty win. One could argue that the Championship race would be a lot tighter if Bouman did not leave after one series (Moss may have kept the Beans in contention too). There are rumors spreading that the Dream Team is a "paper tiger" of a first place team. All I can say is we win it, and do not finish in first in total points, it will not be the first time that has happened and I'd rather be a "paper tiger" champion than an out of the Elite wannabe or even a strong runner-up. The Quiet Storm ousted on of the teams blocking their way into the Elite by sweeping the Black & Blue for the season (and from 4th to 6th). The Storm held off a late Manning surge (They may be the only ones glad Dilger threw that pass to Harrison). Ron Dayne - who had the crystal ball. The "Game of the Week" honors go to the contest between the Jelly Beans and the Bull Dogs. The Dogs had been finding ways to loose and the Beans were on a torrid streak. After Rhodes ripped off a 15 point run everything looked like it would change. But Rhodes hung around the 90 yard mark forever. He Fumbled twice, was injured twice (even had to leave the field) and the Beans kept clinging to a 4 point lead. Finally Rhodes came back out and broke the 100 yard mark, which ended one of the more impressive winning streaks in years and ended a fine Championship run by the Beans. Beans, I would be pulling for your first Championship if I was not in the running myself. CHATTERBOX:(Get Quotes in by Monday Night)
