![]() Well here we go again. Our 13th season is under way. I hope everyone enjoyed the draft. I'd like to thank Ron for hosting the draft once again. One thing did come up this week, someone tried to call a transaction in to me on Sunday night. We really do need all transactions to be called into one place (Norm), then there is never a question of who got what free agent first. I will take transactions with lineups, but after that you must call Norm to pickup a player. I failed to get a list of people who want Notes mailed to them. I will mail this to everyone who received it last year. If you can live with the web version or if you want to try and receive these notes by e-mail, let me know. It is cheaper and also much quicker. For those of you who haven’t been there or have lost the address, the league’s url is http://swffl.50megs.com Key Matchups to watch this Week The Money Takers and Jelly Beans square off in hopes of notching their first "W" of the year. The winner is right back in it, the loser will be facing an uphill battle. The Dream team and Good Fellas will square off in a battle of the undefeated that should have some interesting pre-game ramifications in the Staley household. The Hammerheads and Black & Blue will both be in search of their first "W" as well. Same thing goes for them, the difference between 1-1 and 0-2 is a lot bigger than the numbers imply. In another battle of the undefeated, the Quiet Storm will take on the Sharks. The Storm has been to the promised land a couple of times, but the Sharks have been getting all the media-hype . . . (Oh - not the same sharks - I really have to get a life besides Fantasy Football). The Black Revenge will have to win against the Bulldogs to keep pace with the other teams that will be 2-0. The Bulldogs put up the low score of the week, probably just John lulling Toast & co. into a false sense of security. Spock will begin the defense of the Oddsmakers this week, as defending champ he gets top billing and his lines appear above. Norm’s lines for Week 2 are: JB -1 MT (88) S -3 QS (88)DT -7 GF(107) BD -2 BR (94) HH -3 BB (90) I went through the trouble of doing that analysis based on last year's points, even though it failed to pick any Elite teams last year. In the prior 7 years it picked 15 out of the 28 Elite Teams. As always, this analysis is based on last year's performance in points per game. If you are depending on a rookie or a comeback player then ignore these results. If you aren't necessarily relying on either of these type players and you're on the bottom of the list, you might want to consider hitting the transaction wire hard. See the web site for details on what players made up your 2000 Best Lineup.

There were 3 games that were technically over by Sunday night. One game were more or less over. Only one game was still in doubt. The Quiet Storm won their game over the Hammer Heads with a strong performance from Jimmy Smith. The Heads got a nice game out of Culpepper but he didn't get enough help, RBs and WR's only came up with 6 pts. The defending Champion Black Revenge defeated the Black Blue and still had Terell Davis to come on Monday in the first semi-annual Black Bowl. The Revenge was led by Gannon and Janikowski in a battle of Raider fans. Which is worse, losing in week 1 or losing because your favorite team did well. The combo is horrible. The Sharks beat the Bull Dogs with Toomer and the BRONCOS in their back pocket. Is this the year of the Shark? We shall see. The Bulldogs got some scoring from QB's and RB's but none reached double-digits. The Good Fellas put the squeeze on the Money Takers (loansharking at its finest). The boys jumped out to a 24 point lead and had to hold off Easy Ed and Elam on Monday night. The TITAN TD on Sunday killed the Takers. The "Game of the Week" honors go to contest between the Dream Team and the Jelly Beans. The Dream team had an 18 pt. lead and Rod Smith vs. Griese which is amazing because by 1:30 on Sunday the Beans had jumped out to a 41 point lead via the legs of Ahman Green. Green calmed down and really did not get a lot of help. Smith bumped heads enough with Griese to give the Dream Team the "W". CHATTERBOX:(Get Quotes in by Monday Night)
