The M. Takers scored early and often as they completed the season sweep of the Sharks. They have won 6 in a row and made fine run at the Championship (Bubba you had me sweating). The Takers were led by IMHO the 2001 Fantasy MVP Marshall Faulk. It is rare that the 1st pick delivers as expected. The Sharks got a nice game out of Davis, but it was way too little and way too late. The loss means the Sharks have to win to keep that last Elite spot.

The Jelly Beans completed the sweep of the Hammer Heads and locked up 3rd place. The Beans were Curtis Conway and Priest Holmes (probably the biggest surprise of 2001). The Heads tried even went out and got a QB for the week, that is the kind of stuff I like to see from a team that is out of it.

The "Game of the Week" honors go to the contest between the Dream Team and the Black & Blue Attack. The Dream Team completed the season sweep, tied up our 4th Championship and knocked the Black & Blue out of Elite contention. We had to sweat out Carney on Sunday night. We were so close to benching Chambers for Jackson when it was announced that Gadsen would start. The Dilfer uncertainty scared us (mostly me) away. How could I prefer Hassleback over Dilfer, go figure. Warner put up an MVP 30 and Manning came up small in a feature QB battle. If we win next week not only will we have completed a "Wire to wire" championship, to the best of my knowledge we will be the only team in SWFFL history to win 14 games and to finish with less than 4 losses. With a loss we merely tie for best record ever. Yet, I hear things like "lucky schedule", "not best on paper". Hey, all that matters is name on the trophy.

The Black Revenge avenged their Week 8 loss to the Quiet Storm. The Revenge was led by a monster game from Holt. The Storm got the kind of performance out of George that was sorely lacking for most of the year. The Storm gets to play for something next week, interestingly a win this week would have changed that little.
