NORM'S LINES FORMAT - Favorite w/Spread on top - Underdog w/Under-Over in parenthesis

Well the season is now more than half over. For those of us looking up at other teams in the standings now is the time to start that late season push. And those of you lucky enough to be floating at the top of standings, don't rest on your laurels because nobody has anything wrapped up yet. Next week marks the beginning of the recycling of the schedule. So if you got off to a bad start, this is your chance for a little revenge.

In case you lost it, the league's url is http://swffl.50megs.com, drop by, take a look at the archive or post a voice-message on our new "Interactive Chatterbox". These notes are also available via e-mail if you have an e-mail account. Contact me for details. The E-Mail notes get out sooner, get delivered faster and you avoid the dreaded stamp fee.

Key Match-Ups to Watch this Week.
The Sharks will try to avenge their Week 1 loss to their neighbor the Jelly Beans. The Beans have fallen on some hard times and are need to recapture the Week 1 form before it is too late. The Quiet Storm will try to repeat their week 1 victory against the Hammer Heads. The Storm (with their point total) is looking for one more stumble in Death Valley. The Heads also have positioned themselves for a chance to jump over the Elite line. The Black Revenge and Bull Dogs square off in a battle of Elite Teams. The Revenge too the week 1 game and that is the difference in the Standings. The Bulldogs are in a bit of a mini-slump and will need to rally the troops this week to jump up into a virtual tie for fist place. The Mac Attack's mini winning streak has given them a better hold on that last Elite spot, but their Week 10 opponent the Defending Champion Dream Team has been know for late season surges and they are still knocking on the door, even if there is now a line for that last spot. The last game pit former partners against each other as the "dare I say" resurgent M. Takers try to avenge their Week 1 loss to the Black & Blue Attack. Both teams had problems putting up points early, but are starting to find their grooves now. The difference is the Black & Blue was pulling out early "W's" and the Takers were not.

Norm was 2/5 making him 20/40 (50%) on the year. He gains top billing this week. Spock was 1/5 making him 20/40 (50%) on the season. His locks appear below:

S  -13 BB(103)    MA  -4 DT (98)
QS -11 HH(117)    BB  -3 MT (91)
BR  -1 BD(111)

Only 1 game was final by Sunday night and the rest looked pretty much out of reach. But stranger things have happened on Monday Night. Given that it was Mischief Night and there was witchery in the air, who knows what might happen on Monday night.

The M. Takers put the 2nd blemish on their long-time rival Black Revenge's record. The Revenge still has a 1 game lead but there are just a lot more contenders now. In his weekly preparations, the Toastmaster and Giz looked into their crystal ball and predicted Miami would shut down Favre. Not a major prediction, but too pull Shaun King out of the crystalline enclosed nebulous mist was simply Nostradamus-like. The Takers unruffled by the King move, got balanced scoring with every starter scoring and let the leg of one Sebastian Janikowski kick them out of the basement. The rooks are starting to step up. That trade is looking better all the time.

The Sharks sans Warner defeated the Black & Blue, who reverted to their low-scoring early season phase. The Sharks have won 3 in a row and they have effectively been without their prime stud for a week and a half. Has losing Warner caused the sharks to come together as a team? Who knows? All the same I think Bone will using every means necessary to get that pinky healed. The Attack came out of the draft with a great RB plan, unfortunately "the best laid plans of mice and men . . ."

The Mac Attack handed the Jelly Beans yet another defeat as Davis and a 32 pt lead were too much for his Airness. The Mac Attack was led by "the King", who has finally started doing what everybody thought he would do a couple of years ago. The Beans have lost 7 in a row and are in a slide of epic proportions after a really good start.

The Hammer Heads put another nail in the coffin that holds the Dream Team's dreams of a repeat Championship, as the REDSKINS could not overcome a 13 pt lead. The Hammer Heads are starting to get the expected production out much heralded Payton Manning who is trying to shed the early season "bust" tag. The Heads also got a great game out of Alexander, who interestingly enough was bandied about in trade talks between these two teams. I will take the blame for holding up a possible Levens for Alexander deal. Levens gets injured yet again and Alexander pretty much destroys my team. I've had better weeks. Wasn't Trent Green supposed to gloss over all these little mistakes?

The "Game of the Week" honors go to the match between Quiet Storm and the Bull Dogs. This week there were slim pickings for "GOW". In this battle to be the number one contender, The Storm and a 28 pt lead were too much for a banged-up Eddie George and the TITANS defense. The Storm was led by the Marshall plan as he racked up 28 pts. Corey "Hall of Fame" Dillon also chipped in double-digit scoring. The Bull Dogs got another disappointing outing by Beurlein who seems to be "feast or famine" this year. Maybe the Bull Dogs unique strategy of naming position players as Tiebreakers is appropriate in their case. Beurlein is scoring like a receiver (hit or miss) and Owens is scoring like a QB when he is not suspended.
