![]() It is week 3 and we have already have had a 2-0 battle for the top spot. There are still teams hunting for their first 'W' of the year. The transaction wire has been pretty active and we have had 1 blockbuster trade (1st rounder involved). I have a poll going on the 'Interactive Chatterbox'. Currently 60% of the voters believe the Mac Attack will make out with the better end of the trade. I also apologize for the snail-mailed notes. I was really busy and was unable to get them out until late last week. In case you lost it, the league's url is http://swffl.50megs.com, drop by, take a look at the archive or post a voice-message on our new "Interactive Chatterbox". These notes are also available via e-mail if you have an e-mail account and Microsoft Word. If you don't have Word, Microsoft has a free Word-viewer available that will allow you to view and print the Notes. The E-Mail notes get out sooner, get delivered faster and you avoid the dreaded stamp fee. I really did not delay the snail-mail on purpose, but it does prove an excellent point. Key Match-Ups to Watch this Week. The Sharks are still looking for their first 'W' and this week they go against the Black Revenge, yet another Elite Team. Bone fear not eventually you get to play the Dream Team and M. Takers. The Revenge will try to keep 1st place after dodging the Conway bullet in DC. The Beans will take on the Hammer Heads this week in yet another game with family impact. The Heads will try to continue their alternating win-loss pattern for this week. The Beans will try to get back on the winning track after the disappointing loss, in which their kicker watched the game from the sidelines. The Mac Attack takes on the Quiet Storm in week 4. The Attack is fresh off a victory in which they proved, they will not always get burned by the "Blockbuster" deal. The Storm recovered from their slip last week and is now waiting for some of the other teams to slip up also. The Dream Team and M. Takers square off in a "Football Central" battle of the inept. The Takers perpetual poor performances are the only thing keeping the defending Champs out of the basement. This week the Bull Dogs will take on the Black & Blue Attack. This one is interesting because the Black and Blue are doing a great impression of the 99 Bull Dogs. They are winning despite having a very low point total. The Dogs are scoring a lot more points this year and winning in the more conventional way. Spock was 5/5 making him 6/10 (60%) on the season. His locks are above. Norm was 2/5 making him 3/10 (40%) and his lines appear below: S -3 BR (90) DT -10 MT(100) There was only 1 game that were technically over by Sunday night. Two games were pretty much over and 2 other games were still in doubt and due for a little Monday Night Madness. |
The Quiet Storm weathered out an MVP performance by Warner of the Sharks. The Storm was led by Faulk & Culpepper. The Sharks got very little support for Warner in other areas. The Sharks did try and sure up their WR position because of injuries and BYEs. Sometimes, things go that way, but you can't win if you don't try. The Sharks have faced Elite teams for 2 of 3 weeks and get another one next week. The Bull Dogs beat up on the Hammer Heads. Twenty-nine points were way too much for Ismail to overcome on Monday night. The Dogs got scoring almost across the board. Only Holt and the inactive TITANS failed to score. Taking a 0 for special teams makes sense, taking one at RB does not (Hicks start in 99). The Heads got a big 10 out of their ST, usually a guarantee for victory, but unfortunately for the Heads, their ST was their leading scorer and Chandler put up a goose egg. The Black & Blue Attack, Connell and a 5 pt lead were too much for the Dream Team and the REDSKINS too overcome. The Black & Blue used 2 RAIDER double-bubbles to put the Dream Team under. The Dream Team has 12 pts out of their top 4 picks and Galloway who scored half of them is out for the season, that could explain 0-3. In the game between the Black Revenge and the Jelly Beans, the Revenge and a 4 pt. lead held off the Beans and a game day de-actviated Conway. This was a battle for the top spot, a very close game and a good chance of a lead change on Monday night. A classic "GOW", in fact it was "GOW", until Conway was deactivated. The Beans were led by Johnson and Bettis (who was probably a BYE week throw-in). The Revenge was led by a 2000 surprise "Griese", a resurgent "Watters" and Jamal finally looked a little like the Jamal of old. The "Game of the Week" honors go to the battle of the "Trade", the Mac Attack was led by former M. Taker Bruce. The Attack, Davis and a 16 pt lead were too much for Johnson and Emmitt to overcome on Monday night. The Takers can officially panic now as they have been the lowest scoring team every week.
