![]() It is week 2 and the cream rising to the top and the other stuff is sinking fast. I mailed the notes out to everybody who I was mailing them out to last year. If you can get the info you need through the web site or e-mail let me know and I'll take you off the snail mail list. If you still want to get notes 20th century style, send me enough self-addressed stamped envelopes to last the year or at least the stamps. Every week there is at least one team on the "BYE", so make sure you check your schedules. For those of you who haven't been there or have lost the address, the league's url is http://swffl.50megs.com, drop by, take a look at the archive or post a voice-message on our new "Interactive Chatterbox". These notes are also available via e-mail if you have an e-mail account and Microsoft Word. If you don't have Word, Microsoft has a free Word-viewer available that will allow you to view and print the Notes. Key Match-Ups to Watch this Week. The Sharks despite scoring almost 50 pts. a week are still searching for their first "W", this week they will square off against the Quiet Storm who has averaged 75 pts. a week despite their 1-1 record. Chances are someone is going to score a lot and lose. The Jelly Beans and Black Revenge match up in a battle of the top two in the standings, both will be missing their 1st round draft choice Colts because of the dreaded bye. The Bull Dogs and Hammer Heads take on each other this week in one of many family squabbles this year and they will each be missing their 1st round picks because of the bye. The Mac Attack and Money Takers will play each other this week. If I recall The Mac Attack hasn't faired well against players they have traded away. Maybe this year will be different. The Dream Team and Black & Blue Attack are in the final game. The Dream Team is still looking for points out of the RB position as well as their first "W". The Black & Blue stud-backup RB strategy appears to be blowing up in their faces, but they are still managing to find a way to win. Norm was 2/5 (40%) and his lines appear above. Spock was 1/5 (20%) and his locks appear below: QS -20 S (116) MA -16 MT (60) There were 4 games that were technically over by Sunday night. One games was still in doubt and due for a little Monday Night Madness. |
The Jelly Beans lost the first week's helmet to the Quiet Storm. This week they got a little revenge as they nabbed the helmet and handed the Storm their firs "L" of the year. The Beans (or are we back to the "Almighty" Beans) have 2 successive 65 point games and have a hold on first place. The Storm put up 53 and lost, that is tough but hardly unprecedented. The Beans were led by an MVP performance by Jimmy Smith(291 yds and 3 9-pt TDS). The Storm got double-digit scoring out of 4 positions, but couldn't overcome the career game by Smith. The Black Revenge stayed undefeated against the winlees defending Champion Dream Team. The Revenge got double-digit scoring from 5 players including a whopping 17 from the BUC's defense. The Dream Team is still looking for their 1st RB points despite having the lead's top scoring RB on the bench. Methinks he will not remain on the bench this week. The Bull Dogs defeated the Money Takers, with C-Mart still in reserve. The Bull Dogs moved up to a 500 record and this year they are scoring points a reasonable pace. The Takers are scoring points at the rate the Bull Dogs set last year but are not getting the wins. They will either have to start putting up more points or try and hire the Dogs defensive coordinator from last year. I hear he is looking for a job. OK, the all rookie thing does not work, perhaps a blend of rooks and vets. The Hammer Heads defeated the Sharks and still had Glenn in reserve. The Sharks, who are starting to sound more and more like "Toast" were led by Warner and Muhammed. By the way, can somebody explain how a QB tosses for 386 yards and only manages 1 short TD. The Heads got fine performances from Manning and Hollis, and that was enough this week. The "Game of the Week" honors go to the 1st semi-annual "Attack" bowl. The Black and Blue Attack and a 9 pt lead were too much for the Mac Attack and Bledsoe. Curiously the Mac's benched Cris Carter (probably because the Vikings threw the ball 3 times in week 1). Week 2 was a tad different. A Carter start would have had us tied going into Monday night, and maybe finally a chance to use the tiebreaker rule that has not been used once since we installed it. Of course Norm says that means it is working. The Black & Blue were led by the legs of Gannon. That Davis/Taylor and their backups seemed like a great strategy on paper, somehow it has not worked out that way. The Mac Attack was led by Rod Smith in the loss and had a lot of bench points. Always play Monday Night Kickers!! CHATTERBOX:(Get Quotes in by Monday Night)
