![]() Well another year comes to an end. First of all I would like to congratulate all the Elite Teams, especially the Black Revenge. It was a fun year, even for those of us who did not do so well. Secondly, I would like to apologize for a cornucopia of mistakes made the last couple of weeks. First I had a incorrect WR in the Hammer Head week 16 lineup. Secondly there were various errors in the notes, including a week 15 game description that escaped deletion, several of the leaders listings were not updated for the Monday game. That and the two weeks from hell in October, would lead me to believe my impeachment is imminent. But I know, that won't happen because nobody wants the job. So I won't stoop to begging for someone to take it over, PLEASE!!! In case you lost it, the league's url is http://swffl.50megs.com. Finally, everybody have a Happy New Millennium!! Yes, all that ruckus last year was really about 365 days early. Well the Y2K panic was supposed to be last year, but the Millennium stuff was just plain wrong. Well I looked over that post-draft analysis I did and it failed to predict any elite teams. In fact it predicted this year's Champs to finish in 9th place and the record-breaking scoring 2nd place team in 8th. That analysis is getting worse as the years go buy. Maybe, I should stop using that analysis as pre-draft tool. Using an analysis that is continually losing accuracy could explain my position standing most years. Spock was 4/5 making him 44/80 (55%) on the year. He wins the annual battle. Norm (actually my guesstimates) was 2/5 making him 37/80 (46%) on the season. Actually Norm made his own choices probably only 50% of the time. I will endeavor to improve upon this next year. Of course if the RAMS and Dream Team had been doing better, I doubt I'd have to make any phone calls. Two of the games were over on Sunday. There was at least some chance for the losing team to come from behind on Monday night in the other 3 games. Since the 2 games that were early decided the final elite positions, including this year's Championship, one of them was "Game of the Week", despite the lack of Monday night Madness. The Quiet Storm put and exclamation point on their season by routing the Dream Team, wrapping up 3 of the 5 position standings, winning the coveted "Golden" helmet and smashing the Dream Team single-season scoring record. All this and they could not bring home the Championship without a little help. More on that later. The Storm was led by Fantasy Football MVP candidates Faulk & Culpepper. Not sure who would win the title, but I am pretty sure those 2 would finish one and two. The Dream Team ended on a 3 game losing streak and did not do a very good job of defending their 1999 Championship. Could claim that injuries wiped out 2 of our top 4 picks, but that happens to teams every year. That is why drafting those gems in the middle rounds is so important. The Sharks went into Monday night with a 9 point lead against the M. Takers, Emmitt and McKnight. Unfortunately for the Takers, the Cowboys were too busy making vacation plans to score any points for the team. The Sharks ended with a positive 3 game winning streak (Warner's return) and one just has to wonder where they would have finished if Warner had not gotten hurt or if the Sharks had drafted Green late. |
The Bull Dogs, George and the TITANS easily overcame the Mac Attack and a 14 point lead. Interestingly enough, the only Bulldog in double digits was the TITANS who scored a whopping 24 points against the Cowgirls. Even you Cowboy diehards out there will admit that was not an NFL team out there on Monday night. The Dogs had wrapped up 3rd place based on other league action, but wanted to end their season with a 4 game winning streak instead of backing into a 3rd place finish. The Black & Blue Attack, Del Greco and a 46 point lead were far too much for the Jelly Beans and their QB of the week. The Beans really struggled after a promising start as their QB position withered and died on them. The Beans failed to break triple-digit scoring from the QB position and is probably be the biggest factor in their fall to the very bottom of the standings. The "Game of the Week" honors go to the match between the Black Revenge and the Hammer Heads. There was a lot riding on this game. The Heads were the hot team coming in winning 7 of their last 8. The Revenge had just lost a game that could have wrapped up the Championship in Week 16. The Storm looked to have an easy match-up, so the Revenge had to win their Championship on their own. The Hammer Heads had a fair chance of moving up one slot in the standings. The Revenge looked to be in trouble when Griese went down on the first drive. Anderson smoothed it over a bit by putting up a 10 spot and Watters added another 7 later. Manning and Harrison bumped heads a bunch of times give neither team a real edge. In the end the Hammer Heads running game let them down and the Revenge won their 1st crown. Yes, I know the "ToastMaster" has held the title before but not under this name or with Alex as his partner. The Heads ended up with a great Elite run after a rough start and should be commended for their season. CHATTERBOX:(Get Quotes in by Monday Night)
