![]() Well here we go again. Our 12th season is under way. Everything ran smoothly this week with the exception that the Sharks e-mailed me a lineup without tiebreakers, prior to my getting the lineup submission form up.I don’t remember if we ever came up with a way to deal with this situation, and if we did I am sure we did not cover week 1.It seems like a matter that we should nail down. Ramble over to the Chatterbox and post some suggestions or point out problems in other suggestions. I have noticed some people checking it out but nobody has posted anything yet. Also, there were some phone troubles at football central. Norm is home on Sundays now so you can call him as an alternate place to call. Please make at least a few attempts to contact me first. If we start collecting lineups in more than one place, we will run into the same problems we had with collecting transactions in multiple places. For those of you who haven’t been there or have lost the address, the league’s url is http://swffl.50megs.com Key Matchups to watch this Week The Sharks and the Hammer Heads square off in hopes of notching their first "W" of the year. The winner is right back in it, the loser will be facing an uphill battle. The 2 week 1 juggernauts, the Quiet Storm and Jelly Beans, will battle for top spot. This one might be shootout. The Black Revenge will try to kick the Defending Champ Dream Team when they are down. The Dream Team will try to avoid that first-to-worst disease that seems to plague this league. The Bull Dogs and Money Takers will also be looking for their first "W" this year. At least football central is guaranteed at least 1 "W" in week 2. The Mac Attack and Black & Blue Attack meet in the 1st edition of the "Attack" bowl. The winner will probably wind up in 2nd, unless the defenses stay home. Spock will begin the defense of the Oddsmakers this week, as defending champ he gets top billing and his lines appear above. Norm’s lines for Week 2 are: S -3 HH (88) BD -1 MT (91)QS -1 JB (90) BB -3 MA (94) DT -7 BR (97) I went through the trouble of doing that analysis based on last year's points, even though it only picked 2 Elite teams last year (missed the Champs last year). In the prior 6 years it picked 15 out of the 24 Elite Teams. As always, this analysis is based on last year's performance in points per game. If you are depending on a rookie or a comeback player then ignore these results. If you aren't necessarily relying on either of these type players and you're on the bottom of the list, you might want to consider hitting the transaction wire hard. See the web site for details on what players made up your 99 Best Lienup.

There were 2 games that were technically over by Sunday night. Two other games were more or less over. Only one game was still in doubt. The Quiet Storm won their game over the Hammer Heads by 22, with Marshall, "Easy" Ed and Elam still to come on Monday night. The Storm chose the 2nd best of the Class of 99 QB stable, and this looks like it might be a tough decision each week. The Heads were a little let down by their number 1 pick Manning who only put up a 6, with Chandler and a 18 on the bench. The Mac Attack defeated the defending Champion Dream Team and still had Rod Smith to come on Monday. The Attack was led by Stephen Davis and Olindo. The Dream Team could not be reached for comment as they shuttled back in forth between hospital rooms in Dallas as the EAGLES knocked out their Cowboy double-bubble. The Jelly Beans and 54 pt. lead held off the neighboring Sharks, RAMS and Warner. Warner can put up points with the best of them but 54 is just to much too ask for. The Beans proved that RB's win fantasy football games more often than not, with James and Staley both having stellar games. In a battle of ex-partners, the Black & Blue Attack, Terell Davis and a 12 pt. Lead were too much for the M. Takers and Bruce to overcome. The Takers were this close to benching Johnson for Garcia, but just couldn't pull the trigger. Garcia gives the Takers a "W". The Black & Blue pocketed the "W" and smiled as they pulled a "BULLDOG". The "Game of the Week" honors go to the contest between the Bull Dogs and Black Revenge. The Revenge, Griese and a 1 pt. Lead held off a strong performance by Holt. Despite, rebel-owner Toast "Davis" protestations that in this league you can't trust a QB to beat out a WR, his Revenge team benefited from that matchup. CHATTERBOX:(Get Quotes in by Monday Night)
