The Quiet Storm completed the season sweep against a truly beaten-up Sharks team. The Sharks starting trio of Warner, Williams and Wheatley are all in the infirmary and their replacements are not filling in well. The Storm was led by the possible surprise of the year Culpepper. OK he is not 1999 Warner surprise material, but I am sure most thought he'd be average to good because of the talent around him. He has definitely surpassed the average to good plateau.< /P> The Pre-Game Hype: The Sharks will try to avenge their Week 3 loss to the Quiet Storm. The Sharks need the win to keep their Elite hopes alive. The Storm is an a logjam at the third and surely will need the "W" just to keep pace. The Black Revenge completed their season sweep of the Jelly Beans. In week 3 we had the Conway no-show. This week we had the Frerotte explosion. The Revenge has been simply uncanny spot starting QB's. The Beans now have to concentrate on lower goals, but a Money spot will take a lot of luck. Incidentally, Toast has informed me that the all-black uniforms sported by the Revenge this week have been in the closet since the last Title (1989 Black Assassins) . If the All-Black uniforms (including the numbers?) bring you Championships, why keep them in the closet for 11 years. The Pre-Game Hype:The Black Revenge will try to repeat their Week 3 victory over the Jelly Beans and maintain their hold on the top spot. The Beans climbed back out of the basement and are trying to make that long climb back up th e standings. The Predictions/History: Spock: Black Revenge 63 Jelly Beans 47 Week 3: Black Revenge 42 Jelly Beans 38 Spock's Predictions based on Points For, Points Against and Winning % |

The Hammer Heads avenged their Week 3 loss to the Bull Dogs and are right in the middle of a battle for 2nd (even if they are still fighting that battle from below the Money Line). The Heads have now won 4 in a r ow and are the hottest team in the league right now. The Dogs loss puts them 2 games out for the Title and has relieved a lot pressure in "Death Valley". The Heads QB-RB combo simply got a little more support than the Dogs QB-RB combo. The Pre-Game Hype:The Bulldogs will try to repeat their early season win over the Hammer Heads. The Dogs find themselves in sole possession of 2nd place after halting a mini-slump, though they are still trying to figure out how the y lost on Monday night in Week 10. The Heads are tied for third place and are only under the Elite Line by total points. The Predictions/History: Spock: Bull Dogs 51 Hammer Heads 43 Week 3: Bull Dogs 53 Hammer Heads 24 Spock's Predictions based on Points For, Points Against and Winning % |

The "Game of the Week" honors go to the match between the Mac Attack and Money Takers. The Mac Attack, Bruce and Davis somehow failed to overcome a 0 pt. lead against the Money Takers and a tiebreaker lead. As amazing as it may seem Bruce and Davis (both normally guaranteed points) failed to break the tie. Interestingly one of the Takers tiebreakers was Cris Carter of the blockbuster trade between these teams. I guess there is n o question who won the trade this week. Norm, insists the mere existence of the rule has kept us form having a tie until now. Sort of like "Your number comes out the one day you forget to play". I don't know about all that kismetesque mysticism. The way I see it, the rule was simply an over-reaction to a rare situation that is unlikely to repeat itself. Anyway, this game featured 0 QB points. Has the clock struck 12 for Garcia? The Pre-Game Hype:The Mac Attack will try hold on to their Elite spot by completing the season sweep of the M.Takers. The Takers have been putting up better point totals since these 2 teams made their blockbuster trade and it will be interesting to see how the trade plays out this week. The Predictions/History: Spock: Mac Attack 57 M. Takers 46 Week 3: Mac Attack 46 M. Takers 23 Spock's Predictions based on Points For, Points Against and Winning % |

The Dream Team looked like it was coasting to a "W" with a 31 pt. lead going into Sunday night and Green and The REDSKINS vs. George and Connell on Monday. There was still the small matter of Fred Taylor on Sunday night, who proved to be not so small after all. Taylor's monster 43 pt. game gave the Black & Blue a 12 pt. lead with Goerge and Connell against Green and the Redskins. The QB's traded points and the Dream Team finally got some ST points, but in th e end the 12 pt. deficit was just too much. The Black & Blue's 3rd "W" in a row has them eyeing a Money spot. The Dream Team pretty much has to run the table to get up in the fray. The Pre-Game Hype:The Black & Blue Attack will try to step over the Elite Line by repeating their week 3 victory over the Dream Team. The Dream Team needs a "W" to keep within striking distance of the log jam at 3rd. Interesting to note that the Champs of the last 3 years meet in a game that could decide whether they have a shot at the Elite.
