NORM'S LOCKS FORMAT - Favorite w/Spread on top - Underdog w/Under-Over in parenthesis

Week 9 saw 3 of the Elite Teams fall. Also we had the first true test of the waiver rule. I forgot to mention that last week, that week 9 would be the only meeting this year with the team you played. So if you lost this week you lost the season series with that team. Also this week is The Black Revenge acquired the services of Joey Galloway, as the rest of us salivated. This week the "FALCONS" are off this week so remember that when considering your lineup choices this week.

In other league news, I've added a SWFFL News Ticker, Scroll-Poll and Expanded Standings to the web site. At this point the web site is going to start surpassing the Notes in content as everything added from here on out will be Websclusives!! Point your favorite browser (Netscape works better than MS-IE) to http://www.50megs.com/users2/ksmalley/. I am running out of ideas to improve the site. I've had a couple of requests and will probably be working on them next. Getting your notes by E-Mail is cheaper and quicker, I will never understand why there isn't more interest in it.

Key Match-Ups to Watch this Week.

This week the Black Revenge will try to avenge their week 1 loss against the M. Takers. The Revenge is on a 2-game winning streak, has added Galloway to their mix and now has Taylor back. They look like they are ready for a second-half surge. The Sharks and Mac Attack match up in a replay of one of the higher scoring games this year (they both topped 70 pts. in Week 1). The Sharks are not in the Elite for the first time ever, and they are looking to rectify that immediately. The Mac Attack, after a brief stint in 2nd have dropped to 3rd but their point total is still working for them. The Bulldogs and Hammer Heads will replay their tighly matched contest in week 1. The Bulldogs won by 1 pt and since then their seasons have been heading in opposite directions. What a difference 1 point can make. The Storm will try to exact a little revenge for their week 1 beating by the Dream Team. The Storm didn't have Warner in week 1 and the Storm is hot, where the Dream team is starting to show some cracks in the armor. The Black & Blue Attack will try to repeat their whooping of the Jelly Beans in week 1. The season was fresh and new and the two-time Defending Champs looked like they would continue where they left off. Oh well first impressions can be misleading. The Beans will try to recover from the loss in week 9 and get another streak going.

Norm was 3-5 this week making him 22-35 (63%) on the season and he retained top billing. Spock was 2-5 this week making him 21-35 (64%) on the season his lines appear below:

   MT  -8 BR (82)     DT   -9 QS (97)
   MA  -4  S (102)    BB   -1 JB (95)
   BD  -5 HH (73)

Only one game was final after Sunday. In one game, the only players on Monday were in the winning team's

lineup. In one game the winning team had built up a pretty insurmountable lead. In 2 other games we had some "Monday Night" madness.

The Black Revenge beat the Dream Team pretty handily. The Revenge was led by a balanced attack, while the Dream Team cam up pretty small in the RB & WR positions. The Black revenge has a knack for defeating the Dream Team and this year they are the only team (except possibly the Hammer Heads) that can claim they have a winning record against the current 1st place team.

The Hammer Heads an easy time against the Jelly Beans after their rough recent schedule. The Beans just barely broke double digits. The Heads were led by 69 pt. running game. They missed out on a bit more points as Beuerlein pretty much had his way with the EAGLES, and the Heads would have topped the century mark.

The Bull Dogs, Aikman, Ishmail, COWBOYS and a 25 point lead were too much for the Sharks and the VIKINGS to overcome. The Dogs were led by a resurgent running game as both Watters and Bettis have started to wake-up. The Sharks had another disappointing performance out of the thumbless wonder-Favre and were a liitle too fast with the hook on Antwoin Smith.

This Quiet Storm - Mac Attack game looked like a lock for "Game of the Week" but the DOLPHINS shutout on Sunday made it less appetizing. The Storm and Moss made their 6 pt. lead stand against the Mac Attack and Ernie Mills. The Storm halted the Mac's 3 game winning streak and climbed above the Elite Line. The Macs may be suffering from "Galloway" withdrawl.

The "Game of the Week" goes to the contest between the M. Takers and Black & Blue Attack. In this battle of ex-partners, the Attack, Carter, Hoard and a 14 pt. lead were too much for the Takers, George, Reed and Williams to overcome. The Black & Blue was led by Brunnell who looks to be back in 98 form (maybe a Taylor effect) and a steady Hanson. The Takers wasted great efforts by Pickens and Hakim. The Takers have now lost 3 in a row and will have to struggle to get back up over the elite line as their meager point total will hold them back. The defending champions are just hoping to battle back to respectability. Way too many VIKE's on both of these teams.

Dream Team (Norm):
"Rams Loose, Dream Team looses. Both teams will get back on the winning track next week. P.S.: Mac Attack: What the 'Galloway' were you thinking?"
