![]() Week 8 is in the books. There is a scoring error to report from week 7. Tim Brown was erroneously credited with one of James Jett's receptions. As a result he only had 190 yards receiving instead of 213. This was confirmed via several sources and the scores have been adjusted accordingly. This week the "PATRIOTS, GIANTS & RAIDERS" are off this week so remember that when considering your lineup choices this week. In other league news, I've added a Lineup Submission Form a NFL News Ticker and Player Rankings to the web site. At this point the web site is going to start surpassing the Notes in content as everything added from here on out will be Websclusives!! Point your favorite browser (Netscape works better than MS-IE) to http://www.50megs.com/users2/ksmalley/. I am running out of ideas to improve the site. I've had a couple of requests and will probably be working on them next. Getting your notes by E-Mail is cheaper and quicker, I will never understand why there isn't more interest in it. Key Match-Ups to Watch this Week. This week the M. Takers and Black & Blue Attack square off in a battle of ex-partners. Both teams will be trying to halt a 2 game losing streak. The Black Revenge will try to follow up their big victory this week against the Dream Team. The Dream Team will try to maintain their 2 game lead. The Quiet Storm finds the Mac Attack blocking the doorway at the Elite Line this week. The Mac Attack has found it easier to climb up spots in the standings once they finally made the big leap from 5th to 4th. The Bulldogs and Sharks, both coming off disappointing losses, will try to keep within striking distance of the 1st place spot. The loser could find their team is a lot closer to the Elite Line Exit than the Summit. The Jelly Beans after a dreadful start are starting to pick up momentum. The Heads finished 1-2 against the 2 top scoring teams and now they face a read hot Bean team. The Heads schedule must get easier sooner or later. Norm was 4-5 this week making him 19-30 (63%) on the season and he re-gained top billing. Spock was 2-5 this week making him 19-30 (64%) on the season his lines appear below. This competition can't get any closer: MT -8 BB (82) BD -1 S (85) All but one game was more or less decided on Sunday. One game was final. In 2 games the only players left on Monday were in the winning team's starting lineup. In 1 game, the winning team had a pretty good lead going into Monday night. And the other is "Game of the Week". The Black Revenge won the 1st edition of the 99 Black Bowl against the Black & Blue Attack. Both teams put up some good numbers. The Black Revenge, despite winning did |
manage to mangle their lineup as they could not pull the trigger on benching Williams. In their defense he is as healthy as he's been all year and he was going up against Cleveland, but a backfield of Taylor and Davis is menacing. The Black & Blue must have angered the Scheduling Gods with that Dilfer trade as they would have beat many other teams. The Mac Attack scored their first "Helmet" of the year after many close calls against the Hammer Heads. Schroeder wasn't even necessary. The Mac Attack may have found a solution at their "WR" problem. They may have picked up a diamond in the rough with Robinson. The Hammer Heads just want a break in the schedule. Beuerlein has not been able to reproduce the magic of Week 6 when the Heads upset the Dream Team and the Heads thought had thouhgt they had solved their "QB" problem. Emmitt has been solid, but can't do it alone. The Jelly Beans won their 2nd in a row against the M. Takers. Brad Johnson and Marshal Faulk led the Beans as they recover from that early 1-5 stretch. The Takers went with the hot hand in Jeff George and got burned as dependable Drew Bledsoe lit up the scoreboard. The Takers have lost 2 and their Elite Spot is in Jeapordy. The Dream Team, Kitna, Levens, Freeman, the SEAHAWKS and a 16 pt. lead were just way too much for the Bulldogs and Watters to overcome. The Bulldogs only managed 9 pts. on Sunday as Aikman returned to his career stature as a Fantasy Football bum. The Bulldogs again tried to slip by with Hicks at the starting RB slot. The Dream Team only had half their squad going on Sunday and still managed to carry a decent lead into Monday night. The "Game of the Week" goes to the contest between the Quiet Storm and the Sharks. The Storm, Peterson and a 22 pt. lead were enough to edge the Sharks and Favre in a bit of Monday night Madness. The Storm was led by another ho-hum 3 TD, 300 yard performance by Kurt Warner and a breakout game by Alexander. Remember all those jokes about Curt Warner of Penn State/Seattle fame. The only one laughing now is the Storm and of course Norm. The Sharks has settled into an every other week pattern, that probably will not keep them above the Elite Line if it continues.
