![]() In Week 7 the Elite teams extracted revenge for last week's upsets as 3 of the 4 Elite teams won this week (the only loss occurring in a battle between Elite teams). This week when you are considering your lineup, please remember that the "49ERS, JETS, & STEELERS" are off this week. Also this week I will be taking lineups at home, so call me at home not at Bubba's. In other league news, I've pretty much completed the web site. Everything in the Notes is now available on the Web. There is a condensed print it and read it at your leisure form which closely matches these notes. All the sections of the Notes are also available in a more eye-friendly point & click interactive format. Point your favorite browser (Netscape works better than MS-IE) to http://www.50megs.com/users2/ksmalley/. Send me your ideas for web content. Like the league, this is you web site too, so let's all try to make it look good, besides I am running out of ideas. Getting your notes by E-Mail is cheaper and quicker, I still don't understand why there isn't more interest in it. Oh well. Key Match-Ups to Watch this Week. Next week the M. Takers will try to recover from the heart-breaking loss they endured this week against the Jelly Beans. The Beans will try to follow up their "Helmet" week and get a little winning streak going after a disappointing start. The Mac Attack will try to hold on tight to the Elite Spot that they struggled to earn against the Hammer Heads. The Heads will try to survive this 3 game stretch against the high scoring teams. The Quiet Storm and Sharks square off in a contest that looks like it could be a real shootout, both teams being members of the increasingly less exclusive 300 club. The Dream Team and Bulldogs will fight for household bragging rights in a match-up of father against sons. The Bulldogs continue to astound as they are 5-2 depsite a modest point total. The Black & Blue Attack and Black Revenge square off in yet another "Battle for the Basement" contest. This is the first "Black" bowl that I can remember that really has NO elite spot implications. Spock was 5-5 making 17-25 (68%) on the season and he re-gained top billing. Norm was 3-5 this week making him 15-25 (60%) on the season and his lines appear below: JB -3 MT (88) DT -8 BD (108) Every game was more or less decided on Sunday. Two games were final. In 2 games the only players left on Monday were in the winning team's starting lineup. In the other game, the winning team had a pretty good lead going into Monday night. |
The Dream Team halted the M. Takers' winning streak at 3. The Takers could not hold on to the "W" despite a MVP performance by George and the benefits of a lopsided trade. The Takers have lost 3 games this season. Two of those losses occurred during the Taker's highest scoring weeks. The Dream Team got back on the winning track and was once again on the good side of 50 pts. They did it with a balanced attack, as only Kitna broke double digits. The Mac Attack beat the Black & Blue Attack in the "Attack" Bowl and finally hopped over the Elite Line. Griese and Mare led the Attack to the "Promise Land". The Black & Blue suffered from "Helmet" hangover as they could not repeat last week's performance with Dilfer at the helm. BTW, how do you trade your highest scoring RB for Trent Dilfer? The Jelly Beans scored their first "Helmet" of the year against the Black Revenge, and still had Morten in their back pocket. The Beans must have had "Black Jack" on their minds as Faulk, Brown and Mayes all hit for 21, while Johnson stood on 18. The Revenge are still searching for their 2nd win and things are looking bleak in "Death Valley". The Sharks 27 pt. lead was too much for the Hammer Heads and Mathis to overcome on Monday night. The Sharks kept pace, hoping the Dream Team falters, with a Favre like performance out of Favre and another stellar performance by Marvin Harrison. The Heads are 1-1 after playing 2 of the 3 top scoring teams in the league (they play the 3rd in week 8 - brutal!) The "Game of the Week" goes to the contest between the Bull Dogs and the Quiet Storm. The Bull Dogs eked out the "W" with Bettis still in reserve. When exactly did Troy become a viable fantasy QB. Warner and Peterson did great but they needed just a little help from the other positions. Must be that Bulldog defense. Teams in 7th place in points usually aren't 5-2.
